Question Is This A Good Schedule? - November 17th 2009, 11:08 PM

I'm taking....

Intro to psycology
Human Sexuality
-At college

Intro to ethnic studies
Intro to sociology
Cultural Anthropology

This seems like a lot of work to me... I heard that online classes are even harder, and I have the last three online. Do all these classes count for general education? I just need some help. Thanks.

Sounds like a good schedule to me.

I wouldn't worry too much because of the 5 classes, 3 are intro classes. Intros tend to be on the easier side. Plus, I'm sure you're going to see some overlap in material between Sociology and Anthropology (maybe Human Sexuality and Ethnic Studies too?). Well, maybe not DIRECT overlap, but some concepts that you learn in one class may help for another.

I can't talk about online courses, since I've never done one...

As for whether they count toward general education, I can't really say. This all depends on your college and what the requirements are. My school has a website where you can check what courses you need to take for general requirements and majors...If your school doesn't have that, perhaps go to the department head or see an advisor and ask for help? They're not very hard to get in touch with.

I'm interested in all the subjects, I just think It might be a lot of work. I can drop one later though, which is good.

Someone told me online classes were hard, anyone have an experience in that?

They're hard in that you need to be more self-motivated, but other than that no they're fine.

You'll have to ask your school what each of them counts for. Online classes aren't harder you just have to motivate yourself, just like you have to drag yourself to class every morning. It isn't so much the number of classes you take as it is the number of credit hours taken. The more credits something is worth the more work and the harder it will be.

I think the online classes you've taken will be aye-okay and not too difficult. My senior year of high school, I took online AP Calculus and let's just say it was pretty much NOT okay. I started out VERY motivated, but the fact that I'd only taken pre-cal up to that point, was the only one at my school taking the class online (because of my schedule), and because my online teacher wasn't ever really there was kind of hard!

Nonetheless, I think you'll be fine, once again. Intro to Sociology is AMAZING. [:

Well, it is going to be a ton of work. Online courses really are harder to keep up with. However, I think that so long as you stay interested you'll be just fine . College is awesome!

I'm actually really excited because i'm REALLY interested in cultures. And sociology/ethnic studies together will probably be great!
