I've discovered the only thing I'm interested in - December 7th 2009, 05:44 PM

Psychology. It's the only thing I can safely say I find interesting. Right now I'm doing Art & Design in college and I'm sort of regretting it. I find it enjoyable just not interesting. I just don't know what to stick to anymore, Art (something I just find fun) or Psychology (something I genuinely find interesting) The problem with Psychology is my written English isn't very good and I know I'd have to write crap loads of essays if I do it in uni or whatever. You're right that you need to do papers and such for psychology in university. For me I didn't have any in first-year psychology but second and third year I did. You don't necessarily need to make your paper sound fancy and use advanced English, you just need to follow the strict guidelines (APA) and say the points with explanations and citations from research. However this applies to pretty much all courses in university beyond first-year, whether it's chemistry, English, sociology or physics, you'll need to do essays and papers, so don't use it as an excuse because it'll be used for all other courses then also. If you want to do psychology, then go ahead and do it but you can do both, such as double major, major and minor, etc... . Also, think about how you can use your knowledge and degree later on.

I know many people in psychology do lots of social psychology and such but that's not what I'm into at all. I'm more interested in the biological psychiatry and overall physiology and pharmacology as it relates to behavior. The point is that within psychology, especially first-year you'll be introduced to numerous branches within psychology and you can relate it to forms of art, such as visual art or music.

What do you see yourself doing in the future? Go with what you really want to do.

After all, its not to say you cant do art in your spare time.

As the above said, many university courses have essays in them, even art! Do you have Higher/A level English? I'm sure once you're there it wouldnt be a problem, as you will get taught how to do it in a reasonable standard and will have plenty of practice
