I messed up and now I'm freaking out! - January 20th 2010, 11:47 PM

Ok, this is kind of a long story, but this semester I'm working on my undergraduate thesis. This week we were supposed to submit our applications etc. to the HSRB (human subjects review board). I sent them on Tuesday after the prof. yelled at me in front of everyone for not doing it (even though they hadn't either). About 4 hours after submitting it (electronically) I got an e-mail from the chair of the review committee, saying that it was wrong and that I needed to fix it and re submit it. Basically I sent in the wrong form and didn't fill out the application enough. So, this afternoon I fixed it and re-submitted and now I'm freaking out because I haven't heard back yet saying everything is ok. Normally I wouldn't worry about this figuring that mine isn't the only one she's processing and I have to be patient. The problem is that tomorrow morning I have to tell my supervising prof. (in front of everyone) "how it's going" and I really don't want to have to admit that I screwed up and that I haven't heard yet. He said that if we didn't tell him by tomorrow morning that we had submitted everything we were in trouble and that he was going to yell at us.

In my view I've done everything I could've done, aside from re submitting earlier, to correct this problem and it isn't my fault if she doesn't tell me by tomorrow. I just hate not knowing and then if it's wrong again I don't have time to fix it and get it in before he wants it in and I'll be behind on my experiment because we have to be approved before we can start. That's beside the fact that he'll yell at me again. I don't know what I'm asking for here, since it's esentially out of my hands until she tells me otherwise, but I'm just paranoid about it.

I'd ring to confirm she received it and that it is correct.

I agree with the suggestion above.
If all else fails, get to class early in the morning and explain to the professor what has happened. He should be able tonderstand that you accidentally made a mistake. I'm sure you're not the only one who had something of the sort happen to them.

Ok, so as soon as he came in he told us that pretty much everyone who had submitted already (meaning Tuesday or Wedensday) sent in the wrong form because HE misunderstood which one we were supposed to send in and the of course he told us wrong, so that was a relief, I also found out just after class ended that mine was submitted successfully, but I didn't send in a copy of the measure I'm using so I had to type that up and I sent it to her. I might end up getting a letter from them saying that they didn't get it, in which case I'll just re-send it. The knowledge that I screwed up would've helped about 24 hours ago though.

I'm still messed up I just got all my forms back for the THIRD time and I have to get stuff from him before I can submit again (of course he's not in his office now). I don't know how much more specific I can be. She's also pointing out problems with the consent form even though it's the THIRD copy she's seen, why didn't she point this out to me before now??!!!
