Driving Test Tomorrow, Nervous - February 1st 2009, 09:49 PM

I failed my first one because I got nervous and went straight over a curb even before leaving the parking lot.

I want know your experiences, what are the automatic failures. Anything helps. Please.

This is my way out of my house, if I fail, I'll feel so bad. I've been trying to drive forever.

You'll do fine, don't worry about it.. Just hope that you get a nice person to go with.. I had my driving test a little over 5 months ago and I was extremely nervous, but the guy I was driving with could sense it and he talked to me about random things throughout the whole 15 or so minutes. Try not to think about it too much, pretend that you're just going for a a drive with a family member or a friend.

Oh, and don't forget to put your blinker on before pulling into a parking space.. That was the only thing I got marked off on..heh.

Re: Driving Test Tomorrow, Nervous - February 2nd 2009, 12:50 AM

I passed on my first time but just barely.

My biggest mistake I think was not coming to a complete stop when pulling out of the parking lot.
Then I also hit the curb when I was parking along it :/
And apparently I didn't pay enough attention in intersections with less than a 4-way stop.

Don't stress out too much. I tried to pay attention a little to what the guy was looking for. You can sometimes tell, if he's watching you at intersections that you're not scanning them enough.

Good luck!

hey!!
GOOD LUCK!!!
driving is awesome so i really hope you get it.
Try to make sure you use ur mirrors a lot, and avoiding curbs might help. =P
Make sure every stop you count to 3 in your head, 1 mississippi, 2...., 3.... it really makes a difference.
Always stay 4 seconds behind the car infront of you, its normally 3 but on ur test u should exagerate because your nervous.
I really hope you pass!!!
Good luck again!

It took me 4 times to pass my driving test!! I was so gutted each time I failed but when I eventually passed I was so happy :-) Use lots of mirrors and try to make things smooth. I failed on parking twice. I can't park to save my life. Best of luck with it! Let us know how you get on.

Just try not to stress yourself out about it, watch a movie, get an early night, and try and take some deep breaths when you are about to start. Let us know how it works out.

Re: Driving Test Tomorrow, Nervous - February 2nd 2009, 01:55 PM

I went for my test about a year ago and failed the first time because I had a horrible tester. He would try and tell me how to drive, which on his part was not a good move as it got him fired; you're not allowed to do that. The second time I went back, I got perfect. All I have to say is OVEREXAGGERATE, your head movements have to be noticeable, and although you may look like a weirdo to everyone else on the road they'll appretiate it, and as stated before, blinkers when pulling in and out of a parking space! Also, don't drive under the speed limit, even slightly they'll usually deduct marks for this as it can be considered unsafe.

Remember you are repairable
Remember you matter
Remember they don't."

Re: Driving Test Tomorrow, Nervous - February 2nd 2009, 02:07 PM

So... Got up today, went to see my Uncle, who was the one that too me... He stressed me out so bad, he made it seem like nothing I did was right. I take criticism well, but he stressed me out so bad, I had to pull over into a parking lot and get out because I was overwhelmed and crying. It wasn't even a few hours before my test, how am I supposed to feel more than every few minutes he points something out to me that i'm doing wrong?

So I was late, found out that the DMV moved, and didn't get to take the test... And honestly I'm stuck in the middle of bum f nowhere, in the house, all day.

Re: Driving Test Tomorrow, Nervous - February 2nd 2009, 09:05 PM

I had a real tight ass grading me on my driving. It was winter time, she had those librarian glasses, she always had a serious look, always had a serious tone and had one of those big poofy hats that looked like they were made of real animal fur(poor animals). Anyhow, I tried making conversation, she just told me to watch the road. I was at an intersection and stopped at a stop sign, but I let everyone at the other 3 sides of the intersection go, she said 'What are you doing?' I replied 'I'm just being nice'. She said 'don't be too nice, else you'll go nowhere and you'll hold up the lineup behind you', there was none lol. I said 'Oh well, at least I am not reckless', she then proceeded in saying 'we'll see'.

Anyhow I impressed her very much by backing into a parking spot. She said 'I didn't ask you to do that' I said 'It was a natural reflex', I then uncontrollably stuck out the tip of my tongue .... SHe SMILED AT THAT! haha... then I passed. Don't worry about it Joker.

I drove really bad on my first drivers test... like I hit a parked car and couldn't parallel park or anything and I still passed.
