I was actually going to go into Medical Assisting! I have heardgreat things about it. There are lots of jobs and at this point doctor offices and hospitals need Medical Assistants. All you do is take blood plessure and things like that. Easy stuff. Compared to Dental Assisting, you wont find as many jobs open as you would with the Medical stuff.

Edit: would you rather stare into someone's mouth? or take blood, check temperatures, medical coding, etc?

I'd rather do neither but if I had a choice, I'd go for medical assisting due to better employment opportunities and it's closer to the field of medicine I prefer. I believe they offer both at community colleges so it should take about only 2 years to get your college/associate's degree in it and look for a job. I'm not sure about the pay though.

Probably Medical assistant is it will be more varied and less repetitive, although i think it could get a little boring because healthcare assistants [if that is the correct equivalent] are often just making beds or getting drinks and stuff like that.

I'm going into medical assisting so I'm pretty bias there.
Although i don't have much of a reason why, the others have given pretty good reasoning.

Good Luck.

Neither. Get your RN. Why? Because Medical assisting is *not* a profession and you wont ever make more than 13 an hour. There is no room to move up. Get your RN and you have about a gazillion opportunities opened up to you. Nursing Home, Critical Care Transport (flight, or ground), ER, Hospital, Trauma, Special Event Standby.... There is just so much there, and you can *easily* make over 100k/year with RN.

I would definitely do Medical Assisting. But in the long run, it comes down to what you want.

I'm a health care assistant which I would presume to be the same thing as medical assisting and I would rather do this any day then dental assisting. I'd assume with dental you just have to pass people stuff, with medical you get to do things yourself. I don't see why you have to do two years of college though to learn how to take blood and pulse and blood pressure and run EKGs make beds and dress people... I did like a week and that included mental health. If you want to do it as your perminant job you can do further training and get proper qualifications but I don't want to do it forever so I did just above the minimum training.

Around here, it is 2 years for college/university. But I was going to attend a trade school which was 6 months training and they found you the job in like a month.
