Psychology Essay - April 8th 2010, 12:59 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of rape or abuse, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I'm writing a research paper on child abuse (subcategories: physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect).

Does anyone have any ideas for things that I might want to include in my paper that I may not have thought of myself? Any input would be really helpful and greatly appreciated

I have no idea what you have thought of yourself but what viewpoint are you taking on your essay? I'd include various statistics that you can find in forensic psychological papers and journals. I'd also include examples, both common ones and more extreme ones, such as the case of Gene. You could mention various developmental theories and through journal articles, discuss how certain steps may be impaired or delayed. Cant help much more because I don't know what you already have and what view(s) you're taking.

Hey Melissa,
I actually wrote a research paper on abuse for school not too long ago. Just curious...are you able to chose just one form of abuse to narrow it down? It would be ALOT easier to then break one form of abuse into smaller catagories while giving proven research and facts to back up your information.

If you're able to do that, I would suggest choosing either physical or sexual abuse as there isn't as much research out there for emotional abuse, and I know alot of classmates who chose that form of abuse as their topic had a difficult time getting enough facts.

Anyways, that's just from my experience. Good luck writing your paper! Take care. :]
