3 years out of highschool, not sure what to do - July 14th 2010, 11:29 AM

Soon it is going to be my third year, and I haven't gone back to post secondary yet. I am 19.

I still have absolutely no clue what I want to do. I was thinking of joining the police force for quite some time now. But I am scared to go through schooling, then in a few years hate it and it will be too late.

I am working right now saving up for school, and I have just about enough.

Hey Alex,

The police force can be quite hard to do, one of my friends is in that field. What I would recommend is going to your local police station, and let them know that you are interested, and maybe they can give you some advice, and let you know exactly what they do.

Good luck!

I know in the US, the police requirements varies from station to station. One station down the street requires a bachelor's degree or previous military experience and there is a strong preference for candidates with a POTC certificate while the large city across the river doesn't require anything past passing the entrance exams to their police academy.

I would look into seeing if you can shadow a police officer. There are also a lot of career opportunities from a police background.
