Unhappy Please help me, I don't know what to do! - September 1st 2010, 12:36 PM

Hi. My name is Mary and I am 13 years old. I love acting; I hope Iím good at it. I have won lots of drama prizes, I received the highest recorded drama grade in my year and people tell me Iíve got talent. When I was 12 I found an audition for an acting academy that would give me a little bit of training and then put me on Disney Channel as an extra, then as a more regular extra, then a part in a regular program. It would take place every other Saturday, so it wouldnít even interfere with school time. I took the train to London to audition and it went really well. The next day the casting woman called to say that I had made it. I was in. She told me that I was very ambitious for a 12 year old. She also told me that I was in the top 3 people accepted. I was thrilled.
However, my mother told me I could not do it because she couldnít afford it. She couldnít afford it because my elder sister is going on a residential trip to New York and my sister wanted her to buy her a brand new designer set of clothes (tons, a wardrobe full!) for the trip. Even though my opportunity would bring money eventually.
It was awful. I had never felt so bad. It is so hard to find auditions for teenage girls. And whenever I find any my mother comes up with some excuse about why she wonít let me go. I know acting is a chancy profession and I would get knocked back many times, I donít care. I know in my heart that I could make it no matter how much disappointment I would face along the way. My mother knows this too. She knows how passionate I am about this but she still wonít let me audition. She knows that this is not some faze. I canít talk to her about it, whenever I try to she just yells at me. If I keep missing these chances then it will be so much harder for me to pursue acting later in life.
Without talking to my mother about this, how can I go on auditions? Please help me. I have no idea what to do and any advice would really help! xoxoxo
