Motivation - September 1st 2010, 07:20 PM

Basically I lack motivation a few weeks into the school/college year :/ The first few weeks I'm fine and if anything I do quite well. I just give up easily :|

I'm starting next week and I'm worried it'll happen again as it always have. What could help me make more of an effort and not get so bored easily?

Re: Motivation - September 1st 2010, 07:27 PM

I did the same, I lost motivation for maths very quickly as I hated it and I found I had more motivation in subjects I enjoyed but I still had times when I just had none.

This year I am going to a different college and the library is open until 5pm so I plan to stay after school to finish any work I have before coming home as I get easily distracted and lazy at home. My new laptop doesn't have Microsoft Office either so I that will kind of force me to stay behind because I will need to use the computers there to get a lot of my work done.
I kind of feel this is going to help me as I am in the right environment to get my work done and I will have everything I need to do it and can't make any excuses.

I also bought a brand new really cute organiser which I am going to write everything in like deadlines and homework etc.
I really like to make plans and write lists so this should really keep me happy and organised. I think being organised will help my motivation because I won't be leaving everything until the last minute and panicking then giving up and I will have a schedule and routine to stick too.
Oh and I have cute new folders and note pads which always help cheer me up when I am fed up of working.

I actually haven't got Microsoft Office on my computer anymore as I never been bothered to get it after the trial ran out. I could always go to the library also

I have a Bugs Bunny planner I normally end up tipping coke or losing things like that though I'll try harder to keep it neat this year

Mine is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Paperchase-B...ecc_rvi_cart_1

It is bright pink so it will be hard to lose it and because I think it is so pretty I am not going to let it get dirty (well I'll try, it will probably only last a few weeks though) I have to keep the outside intact though because then next year I can just buy the refills instead of a full new planner.

Re: Motivation - September 1st 2010, 11:15 PM

I think everyone goes through that in one form or another. Personally I lack motivation in classes that I feel don't pertain to my major at all. Here's what I do: I keep telling myself that I'm paying this $xxxxx amount of money to go to this university so I better not waste it!! lawl

I also try to tell myself that I'm probably gonna use this so-and-so subject matter in the real world, which allows me to get more out of the classes and stay motivated

Another trick is to bet with someone regarding who's gonna get the higher GPA (my friends did this before and they got higher GPAs in the end despite who lost - side note: this works on getting fit and losing weight too lawl)

You can lose yourself. Everything. All boundaries. All time.

And just when the sweet confusion is so intense you think you're gonna die... you kind of do.

Leaving you alone in your separate body, but the one you love is still there.

That's a miracle.

You can go to heaven and come back alive. You can go back anytime you want with the one you love.
