amusing predicament - lecturing. - October 12th 2010, 05:28 PM

I have to lecture to first years (100 or so students) on Thursday about the pan-Hellenic importance of Delphi. Its only 10-15 minutes and its part of my module...the few other people doing it have to do this as well over the course of the semester.

Now I'm more amused by this than worried...I thought when the professor said we had to lecture it would be lecturing to the other 5 or 6 people in this module so I hadn't thought about it too much. I found out yesterday its not...I have prepared nothing! I'm busy working now on the finishing touches of an essay thats due tomorrow...so I'll knock something up tomorrow. I have pictures of Delphi that I took when I was in Greece, I'll also get some passages out of Pausanias (a travel writer in the 2nd C AD) about his visits to Delphi and I read some stuff recently on a sacred war over Delphi, how the Athenians viewed Delphi and how the Spartans viewed Delphi...I also know the major things Delphi did with its oracle....saved Athens a few times, said Socrates was the wisest man, Jason visited it...and so on...

...but adding to my lack of prepared-ness, I have a black eye from boxing on Monday and I also have to go to a 21st tomorrow night so I'll be hungover as fuck for this lecture...

...the rather unamusing thing is I've had to put a load of other things on hold now, to do this rush job tomorrow. Jesus, I hope it'll go ok - I have no idea about structure or general theme...or even anything cohesively tangible to talk about. I wish I thought about this whole thing a week ago...or even before the weekend.
