Disciplinary - October 13th 2010, 11:05 PM

Hey everybody,

I need some help.. I have a disciplinary coming up at work because of 'Harassment'.

Basically my job involves performing inspections and writing down any issues regarding cleaning - I was at work the other evening and a cleaner said to me "oh I can't believe they've let you have mobile (which is what that role is called), it's a joke" and I said "yeah and I'm writing down everything you've not been doing" to which the reply "I'm not a skivvy though" came, I responded jokingly saying "yeah you are, go clean!". A few weeks before the cleaner said to me "I cannot believe someone your age has this job, it's a joke" - because I'm 18.

Now, most people have told me that what she has said to me is just as bad as what I said. I do think the cleaner has said more happened that didn't.

The question is, do I deny saying anything or just say exactly what I said? As far as I'm aware there are no witnesses and it's the cleaners word against mine.

HELP!!

Thankkkyouuuuu.

I don't think that denying anything would necessarily be a good idea, but I think if you tell them you were honestly just joking and didn't mean any offense by it than hopefully everything will work out! Good luck!

first off, DON'T LIE. its not going to help and chances are you'll end up getting caught and you look bad for that. i'd just tell whoever it concerns what really happened, and that you were joking around and didn't mean to offend the other person involved. good luck, hopefully everything works out for you.

Just tell them what happened from your perspective. All it is is a slap on the wrist and don't say things like that. Just be reasonable, admit liability "I shouldn't have said that. I didn't mean it in the way it seemed to her and I will apologise when I see her....". You'll come across as mature and responsible rather than launching into a debate about it.

I have been in your position a few times.

Hey, I would tell the truth in this one but clearly show how this was nothing more than a mere joke, in my opinion this sound's like this cleaner is extremley jealous of you, and clearly sound's like a vendetta against you I would mention that aswell. You can't face any kind of disipline against you as it's word against word, I reckon if you mention everything and tell the truth, you will both get a verbal warning at most because if im honest it's all a little petty on the cleaner's behalf to warrant any serious action.

I hope the right outcome is achieved for you. Cheers.
