Question University Applications!! - October 21st 2010, 08:32 PM

Ok - so I've made a bit of a mess up, as I applied to Oxbridge I had to apply to Uni for 2011 pretty early and since have changed my mind about the course I want to apply to. If I get in anywhere other than Oxbridge I will ask to change course but should I ask straight away, after they have made an offer or after I'm safely through the university doors?

You can change your courses you have applied for on UCAS 14 days after you have sent it off.

It is best to email them and ask them if you can change the course as soon as possible as they have to interview your for the right course and make the offer relevant. If you wait until you are safely in they may not let you change once everything is confirmed.

When you've applied to university, UCAS send you a letter which tells you how you can scrap the application and start again - as Rachel said, 14 days afterwards. You should probably ask straight away because that would go down better than giving them the impression that you changed your mind at the last minute, even though you didn't. Good luck!

Hi - thanks both of you, my problem is that my personal statement and references are all tailoured towards one course and my school wont change them now. I think if I get in and I can't change I will just have to drop out and take a gap year?
