Career Options - October 28th 2010, 04:19 AM

Im really stumped for life direction.

Currently I am in a Bachelor of Psychology. The main reason I chose this degree is because; I got accepted into it, expectations for future study and blind hope that it would spark interests.

Well now, I dont know about my possibilities anymore. When I think about my future and what I want to do, I draw a blank. I know what I dont want, such as being poor or unable to buy the things that I want but I also dont want a boring, unsatisfying job.

People always say you should get inspiration and build off your hobbies to find and interesting career path. My hobbies total: playing games and sitting on facebook so there is no luck there.

A major concern of mine is that i'll end up going through this Bachelor and end up knowing nothing of use, this sparked because when I think about how little study I do, it makes me think I couldn't possibly be interested in this field. I buy my required textbooks at the start of the year and have barely opened them the whole year.

What does a person do with no direction?

All right.
So, you like playing games. Maybe you would like a field in electronics, like video game designer. I think you would really like those jobs.

If you want to go the B.Psych method, think about the career options you have with that and decide if any of them fit you.

With just a B.Pysch, you're looking at:
Education field, but not a high school teacher as this is not a "teachable" subject (core academics).
Human Resources / Personnel Selection
Advertising field (they need people who know what the audience is going to react to)
Therapist (non-certified)
Job Training for big companies

If you went on to a graduate degree:
Clinical Counselor (Masters or higher)
Clinical Psychologist (Doctorate)
School Counselor (maybe with only BA? not sure)
Pretty much anything you can do with just the bachelors
College Lecturer (Masters)
College/University professor (Doctorate)
Research assistant to a Psych Doctorate holder (Masters)
Research (Doctorate)

Other possible job opportunities:
Hostage Negotiator

...I'm sure there are others, just can't think of them now.
