Petrified- placement tomorow - January 9th 2011, 10:15 AM

I get seriously anxious about unknown situations.

I start my placement for social work tomorow. I have no idea what i'm meant to be doing.

I feel so scared, and keep having panic attacks.

Do i jst go to reception and give my name? Then what?

Any advice please, i don't think i can do this

Hey there.

So I thought I'd reply to this because I'm suppose to be starting my work placement on Wednesday after putting it of for several weeks and its scaring the hell out of me.

But yes, I'd simply go to the reception, give your name and let them know you're there on work placement but haven't been told what you're doing and therefore you are unaware of who you need to be seeing. Don't be afraid. It's all about the confidence, even if you don't have it try your best to have it. Walk in the with your chin up and be talkative (not to talkative ) and just be you.

Theres no reason why other people can manage to go on work placements and you can't. Have a clear open mind and keep reminding yourself that you can do this because you actually can, there's nothing to stop you. When you start to feel anxious just try have a few minutes and take a few deep breathes. Nothing is going to hurt you and nothing that bad can happen.

I hope this helps and I really hope it goes well! Keep us updated!
Jessie.

Hey Jess,
Thanks for the reply. And good luck on wednesday.

I have met the lady in charge previously at an interview. But i'm just really worried about being thrown in the deep end. Like i'm hoping the first few day's will be like shadowing someone else, then gradually being explained tasks.

But it they just go... Right go do the assessment, i won't be able to cope
