AP Tests - February 21st 2011, 12:00 AM

The time to sign up for AP tests is here. This year, I'm taking Human Geography, Statistics, and English Literature. I'm so nervous. I don't feel ready at all.

How is everyone preparing? I want to use an AP book, but they are expense.

Re: AP Tests - February 21st 2011, 04:01 AM

Generally I just pay attention in class and glance over anything I have that covers most of the curriculum. If this is your first time, I suggest you relax :P
English for me was pretty easy last year. If your teacher has given practice AP tests, they're exactly like the real thing.
Can't really say anything about the others, but I'm sure it's the same concept of just knowing the gist of the curriculum.

I'm taking Physics C (both tests), Calc AB, Statistics, and English Literature. Pay attention in your classes and the two weeks before the tests, review everything you learned. Review, review, review! I passed two of my four AP tests last year primarily from not reviewing. Also, stay healthy and don't cram and DON'T panic!

Only BC Calc for me! The college I'm going to doesn't take anything else, so the $400 I'd spend otherwise is a huge waste of money and time.

Review is helpful, but I find I learn best by doing a ton of problems, seeing what I got wrong, and why. That's probably how I learned everything I know about plant biology.

Someone out there can't stop thinking about you. You Are Beautiful. Don't ever believe differently."

You can go onto college board and get sample tests and an outline of the information that you need to know! Use those to prepare yourself (it's better than a workbook!)

Re: AP Tests - February 25th 2011, 02:31 AM

I'm taking English Lit, German, Calc BC, one part of Physics C (leaning more towards E/M at this point), and maybe European History... provided I finish the study book I'm reading before May Succeeding on an AP test basically requires that you really know the material and that you do a lot of practice problems.

I'm also going to give you guys a REALLY helpful hint here. Go to Google right now and type in "provided by the College Board for AP exam preparation", including quotation marks. You'll find a few PDF copies of FULL-LENGTH practice AP exams from the College Board in quite a few subjects, including multiple choice questions and everything!

Re: AP Tests - February 26th 2011, 12:03 PM

I did AP Chemistry Biology English Literature as I was applying to a few American schools, I just studied for what we'd covered in class without specific preparation for the AP exams and did fine (5,5,5).

If you have specific classes for AP subjects, why don't you go back all through your notes and if you have a specification list for each class make sure you understand each point. Then do some practice questions.

It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try and shove it down my throat.

Calc AB, phsyics and stats for me. =P

My teachers are doing most of the prep work when it gets closer to the exams, but in order to make sure I will do well, I've been studying a few times a week.. and I make sure that I 100% understand each concept. If I don't, I get help from another student or teacher.
