Your best bet would probably be to talk to professors from the physiology department, graduate students, etc. =) Even though they're in the academic field, they probably know people who aren't and can give you a general idea of what's being done with physiology degrees!

I have two friends who are majoring in physiology and neuroscience. One is planning to go to pharmacy school, the other to medical school. I don't know much about genetic counseling, unfortunately, so I don't know how helpful that information is to you.

I'm sorry to hear that. =( Maybe you could see a different academic advisor as a walk-in?

Also, you might want to think about the questions you're asking. They might not be the right ones, as strange as that may sound. For example, I would always ask my advisor about demand in the field for my degree, the average salaries, etc. That's not information an academic advisor can recall off the top of their head. So you may need to do a bit of digging in order to get those answers. Look at job listings online to get a feel for what's in demand and what's being offered as far as salaries/benefits are concerned. Talk to people who earned their degrees in physiology and are working in the field(s) you're interested in. Find genetics counselors and ask them how they got to where they are today! =)

I asked him if the move was feasable and in passing comment said i hope that if i did choose to do this it would stop me from doing genetic counselling if i so wish, he just emailed rambling about how it might and all that.

make sure there is jobs avaliable. you should do research on jobs avaliablity in your city, your state/province and country.

Pretend that you need a job right now.. how many places could you apply to???? how many ppl do u expect to graduate with your major.

This will help your figure out how realistic your goals are... and it will also help improve your job search skills/strategy.
