I found out about a week ago that my loan did not come through because my dad cant be approved as a cosigner due to his credit. He is the cosigner on my loan from my first year and is the only person in my family willing to cosign because of the large amount I have to get.
My dad went through and payed off everything that was effecting his credit score and we refilled all the paper work. However they said it could take over a month to get through credit appeals. I am supposed to leave for school in less then 3 weeks. Now, I DO live with foster parents who are amazing but they have one rule for me that they didnt have for my other foster sister, and that is that if I am not in school I can not live there. I asked my dad if this would still be the case since it is his credit preventing me from going to school and he said if I am not in school, I will have until the end of October to find a place to live. Now saying this, I have a job at taco bell where I get no hours. I have no car to get to said job I currently use my dads truck. So me moving out is not an option I want to entertain right now. HOWEVER I originally wanted to transfer to community college to get my interpreting license for american sign language & an associates degree in liberal arts. I was accepted and I am still eligible to register for fall classes however they are filling up fast. What I think would be a good idea is to register for classes at OCC and if my loan is fixed with enough time to go to Carthage I can withdraw from OCC and return to my school. This way I am in college even if it is not the one I planned on being at. I am not sure how to convince my father that this is a good idea though. Any advice? |
