Tips on dealing with stress? -
September 10th 2011, 04:27 PM
Well, I'm in Year 11, which to all you Americans, is basically 'big exam year.'
And we've been back a week, and I'm already stressed out. This weekend I've had a History essay, a Music essay, a listening task for German, and I have to learn 2 pages of German vocabulary, and I've had 25 Maths questions to do, and a Biology paper, and Physics questions, and a Chemistry write-up to do. I've done all of it apart from the German and Music. But that's beside the point. The workload, I can cope with. The accompanying stress, however, I can't. So, any stress-relieving tips to offer? <3

Make some lists. Get a big piece of paper and write all the things you need to do down on it. Beingn organized takes 25% of the stress away

just chill
If you let it get to you then it will, that being said a little bit of stress can keep you on the right track Keep organised, make sure your notes are neat and dated. Take time on your work because when you get to revising you don't want to be thinking 'what on earth does that say?' Do the work as you get it instead of leaving it for the next day. Ps since i'm english as well i'll say something for german, get used to listening to german because the listening exams will feel better when you get to them I wish you the best in your exams

As a teacher I know exactly how stressful both High School and College can be for students. The best thing you can always do for yourself is know your limits and work around them. Even as a teacher I never try to do all my grading in one sitting or else I begin to make silly mistakes.
Focus on making yourself goals for each assignment you undertake. Try to never work more than an hour straight without taking at least a 5-10 minute break. You can always try working with music in the back round, or simply go for a walk and relax your mind. I personally love bubble baths myself but really any activity you enjoy can be a great way to relieve your stress and help you focus better. Remember, if you try to tackle everything at once, you are bound to get overwhelmed. Take every step little by little and you may find it surprising just how much easier it becomes. I hope I was of help and if you have any more questions feel free to ask! |
