PSAT -
October 10th 2011, 11:02 PM
Yep, I'm taking the PSAT at my school, cost $18 but my grandma paid for it since it can help in a ton of ways from more chances at scholarships to being prepared for the actual SAT's. Just got my study packet today and the test is on Saturday so I hope I do okay, in any case I'm such a nerd and so excited to do it. And what's really funny is I would bet $5 that I'll be the only kid in their with a piercing not like ears (I have a monroe.) Because I'm too emo/scene to be a nerd, too nerdy to be emo/scene, sterotype wise I mean. In any case, so excited to take this! EEEE!

Good luck!
The PSAT is a surprisingly accurate way of projecting just how well you might do on the actual SATs. My school has required that all sophomores and juniors take it and they pay for the examination fees. No one I know has scored high enough to get a scholarship, but I'm sure it happens! I wish you the best of luck! Get on studying!

Yeah our testing day is on Saturday and Sophomores and Juniors can take it. I don't know if Juniors are required to here but Sophomores aren't, I'm just such a nerd I figured it could really only help in the long run and why not.

For us, sophomores had it free because only the top people got to take it, and juniors had to pay. The bubbles are a pain, but I only messed up my name on the answer sheet, the rest was organized in a way that it's hard (at least I think) to mess up.
They might tell you not to talk about the PSAT, we were told that and I kinda accidentally did yesterday with a friend ( ).Our was also not four hours long. Is that different? It was taken on a half day and we got 25 minutes for the first four sections and 30 minutes for the last section, plus a 5 minute break in between sections 2 and 3 and a 1 minute stretch between 4 and 5, and then we got to go back to class for an hour and like 10 minutes. After all the handing out of the answer sheets and rules given, I don't think it was a four hour test. (My math is not great, but 25 mins times four sections is an hour plus thirty minutes so only around an hour and a half plus six minutes of breaks? xD) Sing, the last thing on your mind The last word on your breath I'll be the one to keep you I'll keep you at your best ![]() Self Expression Forum Mod 4/23/12 |

I was required to take the PSAT. It's extremely difficult to get the scholarship out of it; you have to get a certain score in the 200 range that falls somewhere within the 99th percentile. At the 98th percentile I believe (it may change year to year) you can be recognized as like... a PSAT/NMSQT scholar or something which looks good on applications but doesn't get you anything. I got that my junior year.
And stereotypes are no indicator of a person's nerdiness. I go to a hardcore tech school and I see people with weird color hair, piercings, etc. all the time. |

I took the PSAT when I was a junior. It costs $13 but since I got free/reduced lunch fees, I got my fee waived.
It really did project how I did on the SATs (not well ) But it's a good thing and helps you prepare for the SATs. Good luck!
