Focusing on schoolwork - October 25th 2011, 07:23 AM

Lately, I've had the hardest time focusing on schoolwork. I thought it was just the internet, so today I took a day off of the internet and decided to study from physical flash cards. Made no difference, I ended up daydreaming and realized I had wasted 10 minutes imagining I was somewhere else. I don't know why, just lately, my brain wants nothing to do with schoolwork. I know somebody will want to say "take a break" but I honestly don't have time. I don't have the time I am wasting. I have an essay to write, a test to take, all of this stuff in the next few days, and I can't focus. Any tips? At this point, I'm thinking I probably need to stay up 24/7 just to factor in the extra time wasted. I know that's not the answer. But what is?

work on a task fuelled basis instead of a time one.

So instead of saying I'm going to revise for a million hours, say you're going to complete said task. I found that helps motivate me more.

try revising for 15 minutes then test yourself if you can't learn for long periods of time. (thats if the task method = more procrastination for you)

I like using a timer so I see how much I've done

finally, you should change the way you work if it makes you really bored
