Really small jobs to make the ends meet...? -
November 2nd 2011, 01:19 AM
I'm in college, and doing a 4 or 5 years masters program. Now, I also run a charity organization, go to counselling and intensive outpatient, and have what I think to be a good social life. With my one boyfriend and half friends
Anyway, I'm really busy so I don't really have time for even a part time job. I do find myself with a few extra hours here and there where I don't have much to do. Is there much I can do during these times to earn some money? I'm starting to get really desperate, to the point where I almost considered the horrible stereotype of a college student stripping their way through college. -.- I'm pathetic

Is it possible to babysit for the few hours that you're not busy? Or you could do as my aunt does; make & sell jewelry online and to people she knows.

Problem is I used to be known as TheBabyEater for a reason =P I considered pet sitting, but that's only fine and dandy if it doesn't involve constant care or having them at my house, seeing as I don't have one...

You could be a dog walker. Where you'd just be outside and leave when you're done walking the dog and whatever else a dog walker does.

You could look into handing out catalogues and flyers in your area? That usually pays a bit since it's a tedious job not many people want to do.
Also, I joined a few sites where they ask you to be a mystery shopper so you could give that a try. It doesn't pay that much but if you a few of them then the cash starts stacking up and the more you do the more offers they give you, at least with the one's here that is. I'm assuming you've already thought of this or done it but just in case you could always sell old books/CDs/DVDs/phones to second hand shops for some quick cash. I hope this helps

Tutoring! I'm overcome by work and while I'm in high school, even though I'm not in as much as need, I don't receive any other cash than what I make on my own -- and I found that I can set aside 4 to 5 hours of free time per week to tutor college students in my area. I'm currently getting $35/hour (which is even considered a low amount in many areas - in lower Manhattan, just a bit further south than my school, it's not uncommon to find $60 to $80/hour for simple tutoring) and I tutor in my own home, so it leaves me with extra cash at the ready and barely interrupts my other routines and obligations. If you're particularly adept at a subject that other people find difficult, make it known!
