Volunteering. - November 3rd 2011, 09:07 PM

Hai guys.

Today I signed up for a volunteering programme that a company spoke to my school about. I'm really looking forward to it. I thought I'd missed out on it as the list had been sent off, but they must have had spaces free because a notice was sent round to our tutor groups today to say that if anyone still wanted to sign up they should talk to a teacher and get her to write their name down. So I did! I'm hoping to do something in either child care, mentoring or maybe media. Mentoring sounds pretty good though. I have a few worries though. I'm not a very out going person. I'm really shy and it takes me ages to meet people. We were told this was a brilliant way to make friends but I'm worried that I wont. I'm worried that nobody will like me there and that I wont fit in. I'm not good at talking to people I don't know, or being myself around them. I can be this formal, polite girl but that's not what I am. I'm really someone who likes a laugh and a joke, and I'm sarcastic. I just wondered what I could do to get myself to a stage where I'm okay being that person around people I'm not used to. Basically, what measures can I take to prepare myself for being well out of my comfort zone when it comes to socializing? I need more confidence, which is one of the reasons I signed up, and you guys are so amazing I thought you'd be good people to ask.

Thanks for anything you can help me with,

❤ Nana ❤
