Just got a second job. (Any Hostesses out there!?)

I just got a second job as a hostess. There was no interview, the manager just had me come in, fill out the paper work and then she gave me my shifts. I've never had experience as a hostess before. I've been a deli worker and am currently working in a hospital as a runner. My first shift is this Tuesday and im super nervous! She said its going to be fairly busy because there's a show playing that night. They'll be a manager in and one other hostess with me. She also scheduled me for wed, thurs and fri. When I asked her if any of those shifts were training shifts she said no, but the manager will go over the basics with me and the other hostess with help me if I need it. She said I'd either "sink or swim." I'm freaking out. I don't know how to take reservations, where to seat costumers or any of it!

Do you think someone will go over this with me? I mean..they have to right? They cant just expect me to know where to put people and what not.

Thankfully its only a four hour shift..but any of you hostesses out there..or once were hostesses..what sort of jobs did you have? How do you seat people? Is there a book to help you keep track? I need help!

They should go over it with you or else that isn't fair. Plus, once you learn how to it becomes fairly easy. Good Luck!
