How long should a short story be for English GCSE? - November 21st 2011, 04:52 PM

My teacher's being a tit and won't tell us how long it has to be

I wrote a story a few days ago and it's 834 words. Is that enough? It's a draft for the controlled assessment (the new version of coursework)

It's really quality not quantity, but roughly two sides is what I was advised during GCSEs.

Would you let me see beneath your perfect
Take it off now girl, take it off now girl
I wanna see inside.

i did 600 for my creative writing, but that wasn't allowed to be a full story. About two sides of A4 should be about right =)

Sweet It's nearly two sides of A4 printed out (Arial, size 12)

The ending is awful and rushed but I did email it to her asking for advice.

Yeah it honestly is mainly about quality rather than quality.
I retook my English Language, I was soo angry I only got a C for writing five pages, but when I looked back at it I made so many error on spelling and grammar.
My tips to anyone doing English GCSE...
> Plane before you begin to write so then you have a structure
> Teachers say markers dont mark the individual on hand writting but they do (only if it is not clear). Make sure writting is readable, doesnt really have to be neat
> Use points, evidence and explaination to acheive B- A* result. If you dont you'll only secure a C

You'll do great, good luck

All I want is a C lol. I just want to pass the damn thing and never look back. If my tutor thinks I can get higher than a C then I will sit the higher tier but if not I'm not going to cry over it.
