How easy is it to change your major in first year Arts?

This may be Australian specific but might not be.

I'm not actually in this position, I was just curious because of something I heard. I mean, theoretically if you took both introductory courses each semester as electives (despite it not being your major) could you switch majors easily at the end of the year/the next year? Or at the end of the first semester if you took the right courses?

No idea how it works in Australia but over here for the university I'm familiar with, that is exactly how it works. Once you're admitted to the Arts faculty then you're in to the faculty itself, not the course. So if by the end of your first year your chosen major is not what you'd like to take further, you can choose to major in one of the other classes you took in first year.

I find that this is a school specific question, every school is a little bit different.

In my school, we are free to change our major(s) whenever we want - including, one semester before graduation, which I have known lots of people to do - provided that we satisfy the basic intro course and/or grade requirements for the target major.

I'm not sure about there but most people don't even declare a major until after their first year of arts here so it's pretty easy to switch majors.
