University help!

I've applied for an exchange to the following schools:

1) St. Andrew's University (Scotland)
2) Plymouth University (England)
3) Lancaster University (England)

Do any of you know anything about these schools? Any insight about anything at all would be more than I have now :P

I've never visited any of these universities. Or even the towns they are based it. But have you tried looking at the prospectuses (sp?) and Student Union websites for them? If you are going to be staying in halls then they often have websites/facebook pages that can help you get a feel for the place.

We had an american exchange on my course for a year. She lived with other exchange students and I only got talking to her because of labs. Which is a shame as this was the end of the year and she was really nice. I'd definitely encourage getting stuck in and involved with everything that is happening around uni. She said she found the uni culture in England to be quite different to the one she had at home. I think this was mainly due to the different teaching styles and course set ups. But she also found the drinking culture that seems to exist over here a bit of a shock.

What will you be studying and how long will you be staying on your exchange? I can't be much help concerning those particular unis, but any general questions I'll be happy to help with. Good luck with your application!

I visited Lancaster University when I was thinking of applying there. It is a nice uni but it is in the country and everything is on campus and I wanted to be in the city so decided that it wasn't for me. However, I do know people that have been to Lancaster and really enjoyed it and it is a nice campus. I have never been to Plymouth personally but I know quite a few people that have been who seem to have really liked it. I think the night life is meant to be really good and it is right by the beach. I hope this helps a little.

The only one I know about is St Andrews. It's beautiful!!! However, it's full of absolute snobs and is quite boring. I went up there for an interview with my friend. She didn't really like it haha. As for the others, i've not really heard much about them!

Don't know much about these universities, but I've heard of Lancaster University. It has a very good reputation from what I hear. Could be worth looking into.
