What career would be right for me?

I've never been able to find a good career test, but I know that I want to go to college and start my career after high school. I get mid-nineties grades, and I know I don't have to worry about it yet, but my dreams keep me going sometimes. So what I want to know is, based on the info I give, what career would be right for me? Any feedback would be very appreciated.

I've always had a few main interests: writing, animals, design, and TV. I'm definitely good at writing, although I tend to add a lot of fluff, and I do well with English and Social Studies. Math and science aren't my strong points, and I'm better than average at art, especially lettering. I've thought about becoming a graphic designer, but it is too involved with computers. I've also considered being a vet, but I don't think I could handle surgeries and euthenasia. I'd probably be best as some sort of writer, but I plan on living in the city, so I need a stable salary.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It may sound ridiculous, but have you ever thought about becoming a teacher? You could teach arts or even English. I know that's what I'm working towards (=

Hm... I'm not really going to give you a suggested career to follow. You're 14, you've got time to figure it out.
Within the next couple of years, your high school may offer you the opportunity to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), which measures your strengths and weaknesses in several areas. Then, they analyze it to give you a set of ideal careers based on your interests and strengths. By taking this exam, you are in NO WAY committing yourself to any military service. They may call and try to recruit you a bit more after that (in which case, just tell them that you're not interested if that's not where you see your career headed, and those calls should quickly stop), but the test is overall worth it. Either you verify what you originally thought would be a good career path, or it can point you in the right direction. Usually, if you know yourself pretty well, you can get an idea of what the results will probably show you.

If, by your junior or senior year in high school, you're still not sure what you want to do, I suggest taking the ASVAB (either at your high school if they give the opportunity, or go visit your local recruiting office). You still have PLENTY of time and can research the things your passionate about to see what career fields they lead into. Your interests may even change between now and the time you start college. Heck, your interests may change while you're in college.

Don't set your mind on something now if you're not totally sure. Let your passions drive you.

When you say TV, what do you mean by that? I think journalism would work for you or maybe you could write or draw for cartoons or maybe do something with documentaries about animals. You have plenty of time to decide, even once you start college you have a few years to figure it out.

you've got ages to figure it out! After a disastrous first year at college I found myself sitting at home, doing nothing and thinking the exact same things as you. I tried countless career quizzes but nothing seemed to catch my eye! I was being a bum at home (i still am, but now i have some direction!). I went through several interest only to quickly lose interest in them.
From wanting and working toward being a dancer, I went to think about cruise ship entertainment, air hostess, working in the navy, to being an equine dentist, farrier and then I finally settled on wanting to become a Master Saddler. I was brilliant at design tech at school and i love horses, it seems perfect! And look how long its taken me to decide! Dont feel rushed, it will come to you in time (i actually discovered this career on the army jobs website and it just clicked!) Have a browse round the internet, search job sites that are advertising positions and see if anything catches your eye.

Seems like you're an arts student. You should try looking for professions in that section... who knows? maybe you'll find something that suites you.

On another note, have you thought about becoming a psychiatrist, an anthropologist, a geologist, etc? Those are well - respected professions in the arts category, and you'll find more of them if you look into arts catalogues. Good luck with your search!
