Anyone else here wants to be a writer?

I've started writing a few months ago and I'm really liking the experience of putting on paper the way I see the world. I wonder if someone here wants to be a writer too, since writing can be a way of coping with the problems... Also, I would like to know what genres you guys like the most, so I can have a general idea.

Me! I love writing. Putting my thoughts on a paper is my favorite thing to do.
As for genres, I prefer contemporary fiction, rom-coms and chic-lits.
Nicholas Sparks and Cecelia Ahern are great!

I love writeing! I mostly do poems though because I tend to switch topics alot but I have started writing a few books.

I love writing, but the thing is so many people want to be writers, now more than ever. It was hard enough to get published years ago, now with the up and comers it'll be like the storming of Normandy. I'm looking into different fields like Journalism, Social Work or Computer design and animation instead, but that's not to say I couldn't start writing eventually.

My entire life i wanted to be a writer I still want to, but I always get stuck on plots so maybe not hahaha. You know in November it's national writing month (or something like that) and there's a contest to see if you can write an entire story/book by the end and the winner's book/story will be sent to an editor and could be published? Since you want to be a writer, that'd be an awesome thing to look at

I love writing Problem is I can never finish any stories I start writing. My favorite author is Ellen Hopkins though, I love how she writes in poetry format and how she discusses controversial topics. Its interesting and pretty exciting to read.

I'm not sure I'd actually want to be a published author since I hate it when people who know me read my writing (except for a few close friends). But I LOVE writing and I like sharing it with people. For me, it's definitely been a method of coping and explaining things to myself and others.
For genres, I generally perfer realistic fiction (as long as it's not romance and stuff) and fantasy.

In my opinion, I will always be a writer, regardless of whether I ever get anything published. As Justin pointed out, there are a lot of people who want to be professional, published writers these days, so actually making enough money from it to support yourself is unlikely (unless you happen to luck into writing something that gets Twilight or Harry Potter levels of fame). For that and various other reasons, I don't want to make writing my career; I think in a way it will always be my life, but I don't care if it ever makes me any money. I do it because I love it, and it's that simple.
As for genres - anything, really. I'll read and write whatever I feel like, everything from romance to fantasy to sci-fi. As long as it's got a good story, interesting characters, and the style doesn't get in the way of the story, I'll read it and probably enjoy it.
