er..super weak? -
July 19th 2011, 04:33 AM
Okay, so lately I've been dancing fourteen hours a week. Five on monday, four tuesday, two wednesday, and three on thursday. And this is my fifth week of this schedule and...ow. my legs are BURNING. and they were already sore when I went in there too....am I just really week or something? I mean I know I just danced five hours, but to already be this sore? I've been doing this for four weeks, shouldn't I be strong enough to handle it by now? I feel really weak...is this just normal? I feel like there should be SOME improvement but no, I'm just as sore as I've been every other week.

Everyone confuses these things with love, but in reality, love is the only thing in this world that covers up all the pain and makes us feel wonderful again." I haven't done such dancing but I have done other sports where I trained for hours multiple times per day. The fact your legs feel sore indicates they are being strengthened gradually. Don't expect quick results no matter what you do.
As I said, I don't do dancing but I do martial arts and after each class, most of my body feels sore as the muscles are being strengthened through minor tearing. For example, before I started, I couldn't do 10 strong kicks of any kind to a light-weight punching bag. Now, I can do more than 10 strong kicks to the heaviest punching bag in the dojo. Furthermore, when I started, my punches couldn't get the heaviest punching bag to move a lot without hurting myself but now I can get it to move a good deal without being tired and without being immediately sore. I've been trained for several years and still, after each class I'm sore. Beginners are probably the most sore because they haven't done such exercises before or in a long time. One of our newest members is a good, fit, active tennis player so he can jump around on a court but by the end of our class, he's sore as can be. I joke around with him saying although he's sore, he's still a white belt so wait until you get a higher belt and begin sparring with some contact. If your legs are very sore, try some stretches ideally after a hot bath, it may help. I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
