So... Due to a recent strain in my stomach (OUCH!) I'm out of all sports for now... well... cheer-leading. But I can't swim or anything either. It'll pass in a couple days... But I'm thinking maybe I don't want to do cheer anymore. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's really fun and all, but I just don't want to be a cheerleader anymore. I don't feel like there's any challenge or anything anymore. I'm just going through the moves, and not really having fun messing them up... Yeah I probably make no sense. Anyways, I NEED to have a sport of some kind. I would go crazy sitting around all the time and just hanging out. But I have NO idea what sports I should even consider. So that's where TH comes in. I'll post some of my qualities, likes, dislikes, etc. And I'd love it if you could go ahead and post any sports that are really fun or that you think I might have fun with. Oh sorry it's so long thanks in advance!(:
I am... - flexible - strong (to a point) - Okay with sweating (I'm not all "ew" about it) i like: - jumping - stretching - flipping - people (Not necessarily on a team just in general.) I hate: - running - soft ball - basketball - throwing balls... So yeah any that you can think of would be great or you can post what you play/do. Thanks ![]() - |

Rowing. It's the best exercise you can have while sitting down.

i Did gymnastics from ages 3 to 12 and then switched to cheer. I think about going back but i've had a growth spurt since then so it'd be really hard to pick it back up.

You could try a form of dance, there are several to choose from. I always loved ballet, lyrical, tap, and jazz

I'd definitely recommend some kind of martial art. There's plenty to choose from, so you can pick the type you like best. Personally, I've been doing taekwondo for two years now, and I absolutely love it.
I also agree with the people who've recommended dancing and gymnastics. You could try taking up ultimate frisbee if you want too.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |

Tennis or Table Tennis are great fun! I mean I know you run in normal tennis but it doesn't feel like proper running!
And table tennis doesn't involve running, and it's great fun. You don't have to join a club for either of these unless you wanted to either because they can be olayed freeliy with family/friends. Rugby is fun if you want a bit of aggression and soccer is amazing fun and because you're in a team you can have a laugh. Plus if you are in a good team you get followers and stuff! And in the winter you could take up skiing or snowboarding. They're awesome fun and involve everything you are/like and nothing you hate Problem is if it doesn't snow much where you are you'd have to go on holiday which can be expensive! That's all I can think of off the top of my head which are cool... Xxx When life gives you one thousand reasons to cry, show life one million reasons to SMILE! ![]() Because we all love pigs |

I'd also say a form of martial arts. It's not just about kicking, punching and whatnot, that's just a fraction of it and not all martial arts allow contact. Certain forms of karate (i.e. Goju Ryu, a style I do) has light to no contact sparring, whereas other forms (i.e. Kyukoshin, a style I also do) is full-contact, no padding allowed (although for our dojo we do use punching gloves and shin pads but no helmets, chest pads, leg pads, etc... that you sometimes see in taekwondo). However, pretty much every dojo or training center won't allow beginners to spar for obvious reasons, especially when it's full-contact. For us, people are allowed to spar in the Goju-Ryu style at a lower belt than they are for a Kyukoshin style.
You could also do a self-defense class. They have immense variability as to what they teach and how. I help teach a self-defense class, involving basic punches and kicks to knife-fighting, disarming armed opponents and using various joint-locks, throws and chokes). You practice techniques on each other only to the point where the person feels pain or taps. In our class, more advanced students have to defend against any type of attack or grab and they go back and forth countering with technique after technique. So in a way, there is some sparring. It gives you an incredible work-out, increases flexibility, endurance, and best of all, you don't need to be incredibly muscular to succeed. Some of the brown and black belts I spar look like your average Joe, not very muscular or heavy but the way you train ensures your strikes, throws, etc... will have plenty of power. Like any sport, there's always a risk of injury and when you're sparring, your opponent and you are meant to care for the safety of each other, as well as not engaging in a senseless brawl. If I'm sparring someone who is of a lower belt, I'm not going to do my best, instead I'll go a little bit above their level to provide them with a slight challenge but not completely dominate them. Most opponents in any martial art will be like this. Tournaments can be a different story (you don't need to participate in them if you don't want to) because you only win by dominating your opponent in sparring while complying with the safety rules. I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
