Talking A New Reading Nook - January 8th 2018, 06:13 AM

Hi guys,
Today we made another reading nook for our 2 small kids.
Okay, first things first. My 6-year old, and 8 year old love reading. And it's really one of the only times we'll let them use a screen. Our oldest has a Kindle, and she has tons of books on it. She is really generous with it. She will read to her sister as much as she wants. However, another great idea for kids who love reading is to make them a reading nook.
We made it in out playroom. It was simple, really. We got a really soft armchair for Christmas, so we put it there. Then,we decided to base the nook on a theme. Since the chair was a pretty soft blue, we decided to make it a cozy ocean theme. We wrote "READ" in swirly gold, silver, and blue glitter. We also collected some shells from the beach and glued them near the "READ" letters. We put a little white bookshelf next to the chair and put some of the girls' favorite books in there. We also put a little white laundry basket filled with books, because there were a lot! Finally, we painted some pictures of the beach and put them in frames with shells on them.
It turned out great!

I love reading nooks! My parents made me a reading nook when I was 5, and it literally took up half of the room. They designed it to be a treehouse and there was floating bookshelves - which acted as the branches and it was lined with books. There was fairy lights, toadstools chairs and a couple of beanbags. It was amazing.

breathe. it's just a bad day, not a bad life.

Reading nooks are wonderful! I have a small one and it's definitely one of my favorite parts of my room. The ocean theme you've designed sounds lovely.

wanderlust consumed her;
foreign hearts & exotic minds compelled her.
she had a gypsy soul
and a vibrant heart for the unknown.

This sounds amazing! If I ever have children I would love to do something like this for them. The theme you chose sounds great as well!

I'd love a reading nook! Your one sounds beautiful and reminds me of when I had school and we had something similar- ocean theme with shells. My favourite from school was when it was coming up to Christmas and they did a Christmas theme. They had a tree, and the teacher went to the effort to create a fireplace with flames using different textures and colours of card, and there was a rug and a few cushions in front. It was very cosy!
