Painting on some plates for my mom's birthday... any ideas?

I picked up some cheap white plates, and curiously a mug. (hardly remember why. we have to many of them)
Anyway, I have ideas for 3 of the 4 plates, but not for the other large plate or the mug. On one smallish plate, I drew a button and it says AWESOME (pretty much a big inside joke) on a larger plate, a dinner plate, I drew different boxes and labeled them each of the food groups. When she uses it I'm totally going to yell at her for ruining it. On the other larger plate, I'm gonna draw a face with it's mouth open going NOM NOM NOM NOM all around the edges.

Any ideas for the other dinner plate and the mug?
I'd prefer it to be funny... That's the only relationship I have with my mom. No sentimental crap.
Also, I'm really not the best painter.

I got acryllic paint for it. None of it's dried yet, but it wiped away very easily when I messed up and wiped away a line. I got the right paint right?
I'm no painter. Other than spray paint. I'm not too shabby at spray paint. lol

Whatever that represents your relationship with your mom, I miss my mom everyday while I'm away in college even though she calls me everyday, for example instead of drawing on the dinner plate you could write a little note saying ' I love you' and just draw little hearts next to it or something something in it or on the mug you could write '#1 mom' on it . My creative ideas sucks,yahhh I know. I took an art class once in HS year, I barely passed. I just prefer to doodle. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help!
