Question Becoming a Artist / 3D Artist - January 9th 2011, 06:26 AM

Hello there all,
if you don't know me I am Jackson. It is my desire to be able to animate the imagination in my head. I have such a rapid imagination, I am filled with so many animation ideas in my head, stills(photos) and shorts. I would love to make them but I cannot draw well, I have tried to draw but I am not at a caliber to do even most basic good drawing. I can't even draw a rough sketch of what I am imagining. What should I do, what steps should I follow so that I can learn to draw, then be able to draw from imagination then take those drawings/imaginations/ideas and make them into shorts and stills. Are any of you artists or do you have knowledge as to how this can be accomplished ??

I came here to help out, so if you wanna talk or just need someone to bounce ideas or issues off of or something else then send me a message and I will reply as soon as I can.

Hello. I will start by saying I'm not much of a artist myself, but I do think I know what you need to start doing if u want to at-least sketch out your ideas. Your first step would be drawing. Start drawing consistently because if you do, I'm sure you will see improvements within just a few months. I've read that some people think copying (not tracing) is a good start and some say being original is a good start. I would just recommend getting something on paper. Also, you can look up tutorials on different styles of art and see where that takes you, plus it may give you and idea of where you want to take your art. Hope this helps.

I have been into art for many years and have gone into many areas with it. For me I also have trouble with getting the idea's from my head onto paper. For you to sketch it out if good but it could take hours for you to get your exact idea down and for it to be the way you wanted.
What I do think of the idea I want to put down and then look up a picture. So say it's a girl walking ( just as an example) look up a video or picture of a girl walking and then , don't copy it, but mold it into how you were thinking it out. Also think of the language you are going to use and how everything is going to play out. Make sure all the panels or pages blend together so its easy to see the range of motion.

Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
