Going to Edinburgh tomorrow!! What should we see?? - May 13th 2012, 10:23 AM

So tomorrow afternoon I'm heading to Edinburgh in Scotland with the boyfriend for a few days, to celebrate our 2 year anniversary.

I'm just wondering what there is to see that we can't miss?? We've already been told to visit the castle, Holyrood Palace, some special effects museum place and Greyfriars Bobby, but just wondering if there's any other suggestions ~ or suggestions for bars/clubs or food places?? Our hotel is smack bang in the middle of the city but a map shall be obtained

(: x

hey! I live in Scotland, pretty near Glasgow, and not too far from Edinburgh too. I absolutely love it there, the city life there is absolutely phenomenal, despite being a 15 year old I already cannot wait for two years time, when I will be studying at Edinburgh University yay! haha, however, because i'm not old enough to get into clubs and bars i can't really advise you on that one, but as for sightseeing..

-Edinburgh Dungeons
-Grey Friars Bobby
-The Fringe (if it's still on)
-Edinburgh Museum (National Museum of Scotland)
-Edinburgh Castle
-Holyrood Palace
-Edinburgh Botanical Gardens
-All the cool student-y trendy shops which are all over the place
-JOE - a really really cool shop full of some great stuff
-The Camera Obscura
-Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre
-The Hub Edinburgh's Festival Centre
-Dynamic Earth
-Nelsons Column
-Royal Museum
-Crown Jewels
-EDINBURGH ZOO FOR DEFINITE!!
and theres like a gazillion other thins to do too!

Edinburgh is amazing, don't just think it's just like England with the tacky Scottish Tourist shops, we hate them too..

have fun, enjoy yourselves <3<3

Hah it's grand I can imagine, we have the tacky Irish tourist shops over here!! Thanks so much, this is loads of suggestions!!

Also, just wondering if the city is expensive at all?? I'm coming already from an expensive city so I probably won't notice if it is, but just in terms of food prices/entrance prices, etc, it would be good to know.

Well, I'd say no to be honest because I have been to Ireland and I was really shocked haha! it's not nearly as expensive as where you come from, but I suppose it depends where you eat and go some places to go are free to get in, but everything depends haha! have fun! <3

Damn I was too late. I just saw this and was about to suggest Niddry Street Vaults, I think they're near the Royal Mile. They're supposed to be heavily haunted.

Hah that's funny, we actually went on this tour (accidentally...we were planning to go on a different ghost tour but arrived late, followed the group and a little while later realised we were on the 'terror' tour..agghh!!) I'm glad we did it but it was a pretty terrifying experience at the time and I was so glad to get out of there. :O
