Canada! - July 3rd 2012, 02:14 PM

In october I'm going to be in Canada for my brothers wedding. It's going to be on the south coast of Vancouver Island, near Victoria. I'll be sending a few days after the wedding before I go back home and I'm wondering, should I go to Vancouver, stay in Victoria, or get the ferry across to Seattle? If I do go to seattle, do I need a visa or anything? It's been years since I last went to the USA. Also, does anyone know what the weather over there will be like in october? The wedding is going to be outside and I dunno what to wear.

The area you're traveling to is very similar to England, rainy and cool for most of the year. I would recommend bringing a multipurpose jacket that can keep you dry and warm, I'm guessing that the temperatures up there in October are probably going to be in the 40s and 50s.
You should only need a Passport, though I would make sure to pack another form of identification (Driver's License, etc.) just in case, but I would double check. The United States only requires a Visa if you plan on staying for a long period of time, usually, so unless you plan on spending several months in Seattle you should be good with a Passport only.

I'd go to Vancouver because I've always liked it there when I've gone.

Go to Vancouver, because that's my hometown and I love there to pieces.

It really depends on what resonates with you - a bigger or a smaller city. They are quite similar in a lot of ways. Definitely carry an umbrella at all times.....

I'd go with Victoria or Seattle - Seattle is my favourite city in the USA, but Victoria is probably my favourite in Canada.... so you can't really lose.

What do you look for traveling though? Because if you want to go out clubbing, Victoria is not the place for you.... it is an extremely pretty place, but has no nightlife to speak of. (If you choose Victoria I'll come back and give you a list of restaurants/things-to-do --- my favourite burger joint in the world is in Victoria.)

As for Seattle, it has a fantastic market and some really cool tourist-y things, and is a bigger city... haven't been there as much, but have thoroughly enjoyed the times I've spent there.

I actually live in that area!
I've been to all 3 places and I definitely recommend you go to Vancouver. Its an excellent place to visit and was a lot of fun when I went for a choir trip.
I also live in Seattle. The weather here is pretty horrid in October. We have white skies and it rains about half of the month. Its also very chilly. So I recommend wearing a cardigan with your outfit just so you have another layer but it will still look dressy.

And here you are living, despite it all.
