Japan!! - September 3rd 2013, 09:51 PM

I am travelling to Japan in Januarywith a friend, we have already decided that we will be skiing, and visiting Tokyo.

Is there anyone who has been there and has any tips, on which cities we should visit and what else we should do in japan? And does anyone know whether the Japanese are good at English, or if its best to travell with a tourist group?

I only have advice relating to cuisine. When they give you Wasabi, don't eat it whole unless you want to give yourself a killer heartburn.

My dad has been to Tokyo (he had the wasabi experience ) and it's a good city from what I hear. They do speak English there, though it's still strongly Japanese. Tokyo. and the majority of Japan, is ultramodern.

I'd suggest brushing up on basic Japanese phrases between now and January.

"Hi, how are you?"
"My name is (your name here)."
"Where is (name of place)?"
"How do you get to (street/place)?"

Plus, they also have metro transportation. I don't know if it's like it is here in the US, but like I said... ultramodern.
