Traci got $400 towards a flight so... - January 1st 2016, 10:04 PM

Delta overbooked my flight home and I was stuck flying the next day. But I got $400 towards another flight. So...
WHERE SHOULD I GO? Comment below. I'm thinking this will either be my MLK weekend trip with my partner (in that case, it needs to be west coast so he can drive to the place ) orrr my spring break trip (then it can be anywhere in the United States or Canada ) Don't just say where you're from, although I'd love to visit each and every one of you. But really folks, give me ideas. I could be responsible and save it for my internship or a conference flight or something...OR I COULD BLOW IT ON TRAVELING TO RANDOM PLACES. But give ideas.

Well... You could just come to Ottawa, amazing place. However, who wants to be in Ottawa where all the political stuff happens (and where Justin Trudeau lives)

East Coast, have you been to L.A? Seattle? I've never been so if you do go, take some photos! California? You could visit Vancouver, it's on the East Coast and I hear it's really nice there!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the flight bonus!

I can only really say on how I generally split this kind of income. I usually set 70-80% aside, and use the rest for leisure of some sort or other... although the exact % depends on just how much money we're talking about. Yes, I have an exact % (lol). I created an excel spreadsheet for it that adds up income over 2 weeks and gives it a %.

That would give you about $100 to play around with (cinema, restaurants or whatever you're into), and $300 to keep for another time, to buy something you need with it, or just keep it in the bank.

I know... I'm no fun. lol

Do whatever you feel like. I'm not even voting. It's your money, your choice.

P.S. I get it that it's towards a flight. But it's effectively like credit, alleviating you of having to spend $400 on air travel in future. It does effectively save you $400, one way or other, which you can spend on whatever.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.

California is fun. Honestly, I'd probably go to new York. I've always wanted to visit and if I had the money I would. Being responsible can be boring sometimes.

If you wish to go along the west coast, California maybe good to visit because it has Disneyland!

Or you can go to Europe!

Screw disneyland go to disneyworld! Why settle when you could go to the real thing?
or just go to new york, where theres tons of awesome stuff to do, and itll probubly cost less than disneyworld..

I know you are looking for a sea that lies beyond your reach
But im hoping my heart can stop you before you reach the beach
I know you have places to go
I know that you want the sea
But im hoping my heart will grow and that you'll
come back to me.....

I live in NY(C). I have a lot to say about it. But I can't really say you should like oh em gee go there or anything. I'm like ehhh about it. Hey, if you thoroughly enjoy getting trampled, it is not my place to judge. There's more than what meets the eye I guess is what I'm saying here. Then again NY can be really fun. It can be, yes. I never been to the other locations so I can't say.

California isn't all that exciting. I mean yes we have the ocean and Disneyland. San Francisco is okay. Sacramento isn't that fun only thing we have is the state capital/.

I homnestly would go to like flordia or London.

I would argue that Florida isn't all that fun. We have the theme parks, which are great in the "off season," and when it isn't as hot. In summer it's just too hot, stormy, and wait times are 2+ hours. Christmas isn't that much better. I say save it for an emergency where you need a ticket short notice. You can usually get tickets cheap if you book far enough ahead. Besides, traveling for fun also requires hotel funds :P

I'm going to be a boring fart here and say, keep it for when you need it. What may seem like a great idea by jetting off to somewhere new at the time may not end up being great after you find you really could have done without spending more money on a really necessary flight somewhere else in the future.

Life is for living, not for losing.
