Things to Collect - April 3rd 2012, 05:19 AM

I'm a Canadian university student and I'm going on an exchange to England from October 2012 until June 2013.

I wish to travel to many countries in Europe (i.e., Italy, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Norway, etc.)

I want to...collect something from each of the countries - the same thing from every country.

I.e., a postcard from every country and I have a collection or stamps from every country and I have a collection.

Any thoughts re: what type of thing I should collect during my travels?

Thanks.

So jealous! Hope you have fun!

Something I like to do is collect rosary beads... I'm not very religious anymore but I was raised Catholic and I find something beautiful about them.

Could you do a dried/pressed flower from every country, weather and travel laws permitting? (I know the US is paranoid about us bringing stuff into the country.)

Well, presumably it would need to be something small, and something you can get through customs.
So, some ideas: coins, notebooks, snowglobes, magnets, tickets, badges/pins, spoons, pieces of fabric, rocks.
Have fun on exchange, by the way. It sounds great.

I collected all of my train tickets from when I was there! Postcards are also good. I know a lot of people will buy and send the postcard from the country their visiting and send it to themselves back home which is kind of cool because then when you get home you have all of these postcards
