Talking What's your favorite Disney movie? - May 22nd 2015, 10:38 PM

I'm actually not a huge Disney fan due to being too feminist. In high school, I actually had a student teacher get incredibly angry with me for "overthinking" a Disney movie after I called Beauty and the Beast problematic for normalizing domestic violence. (Which it does, and isn't English class about overthinking everything? C'mon) But that doesn't mean I don't still love quite a few of them!

What's your favorite Disney movie? My favorites are Up, Wall-E, Mulan, and my absolute favorite (drumroll, hipsters don't judge me) is actually Frozen. I feel that I am literally Elsa. Like. Elsa is me. I cried when I first watched it bahaha. So yes. What is yours?!

I'm a big fan of the 90s renaissance period. Lion King, Hercules, Hunchback, Beauty and the Beast, they all really do it for me. Frozen is excellent and given a few more years after the hysteria has died down (cuz it's still going) it'll be given the respect it deserves. Also a lot of love for The Emperor's New Groove.

I'd have to say Tangled, Big Hero 6, Up, or Frozen.

I have too many....but definitely Wall-E, Frozen, Lion King, 101 Dalmatians, Fox and the Hound, Brave, Brother Bear, and Bolt :P

Buuuut....if we include the 'live action' Disney films too then Pirates of the Caribbean, Flight of the Navigator and White Fang

Big Hero 6 is my ultimate favourite, but I also like The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Ratatouille and Wall-E. And most of the other Pixar films are very nostalgic for me (Monster's Inc and Toy Story 2 especially).
To be honest, I've seen quite a few Disney (excluding Pixar) films and I liked them all to some extent one way or another.

Hey,

My favourite Disney movie has to be... Aladdin. I like the newer ones but I do prefer old school ones... I could be slightly biased as I'm old.

Does Star Wars count now that Disney owns the franchise?

If so, The Empire Strikes Back, if not, The Jungle Book.

Beauty and the Beast <3

Am I the only one a tiny bit disappointed of Frozen? It's just with all the hype I expected more. It's a great film but I prefer Tangled myself.

Mulan, definitely.

Though my favorite Disney princess is Merida. She is definitely me.

Well, I don't think I've ever actually particularly disliked any Disney film I've watched, but if I had to pick a favourite, I suppose it'd come down a three-way tie between Toy Story, Wall-E and Big Hero 6. Honourable mentions for Frozen and The Emperor's New Groove.

I'm going to go against the common trend here and say the Parent Trap (remake) don't really like films with tons of singing in so that rules out most of them.

It's a three-way tie between Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and the original Alice in Wonderland.

Re: What's your favorite Disney movie? - June 16th 2015, 12:59 AM

Mulan, Pocahontas, the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast are my favorites.

I HATED the older Alice Disney movie, as it COMPLETELY changes Alice's personality, which is the best part of the books. In the books, Alice was a rude and bratty child who was learning her place, learning how to act in society/the rules of society, and finding her own sense of agency and how to direct and control her own life. But in the movies she was a meek and polite child who mostly agreed with what others said and fought back a lot less. The plot of the movie is also somewhat different, especially at the end. The Disney movies took away Alice's power, and it broke my heart. Anyone who has read both the books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Through The Looking Glass (the full version, NOT the shortened ones like this that cut out parts: http://img2.imagesbn.com/p/978159679...1_s260x420.jpg), feel free to disagree with me (the reason I specify both is that the film combines elements of the two, another aspect of it that bothers me). I am not trying to say that others shouldn't enjoy it, only that it's not true to the book, and that I myself personally dislike it.

I just adore the movie and I love when Oliver follows Dodger back and scares everyone, I laugh hysterically.

Brave is technically a pixar Disney hybrid, as Pixar aims more for not traditional non romantic (save wall-e) stories, and Disney deals with princesses and such, but i gotta let people know about my absolute favorite and my actual wife. 600$ in brave merchandise and growing.

Re: What's your favorite Disney movie? - July 2nd 2015, 05:16 AM

Wow, that's a pretty difficult choice for me... I've seen a bunch such as:
-Frozen (I'm sure nearly everyone has seen that movie)
-Big Hero 6
-Tangled
-Toy Story trilogy
-Cars
-Bambi
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame
-Monsters Inc.
-Monsters University
-Maleficent
-Aladdin
-Finding Nemo
...And the list goes on and on. They're all great movies.
Though, I will say that my favorite Disney movie will go to Toy Story. I grew up with that movie basically, and I can even recite most (if not all) the dialogue and what happens in the story. I watched it a billion times. Toy Story will always hold a special place in my heart. Plus, can't go wrong with Buzz Lightyear.
