Top five movies - December 23rd 2016, 05:23 PM

What are your top five favorite movies and what are the five movies you hate the most?

Favorite:

-Deep end of the ocean
-Stepmom
-The family stone (It's a Christmas Move but so what? )
-Gone in 60 seconds (The remake I believe)
-Hotel Rwanda

(These are subject to change but in general these are the movies that I don't mind rewatching)

Least liked:

-Monty Python
-Triple 9
-The man from U.N.C.L.E
-Finding Dory (It was cute but it annoyed me because she was literally lost the whole entire time)
-Free State of Jones

(These are mostly movies from this year or so. I can't remember all the movies that I have hated and none were jumping out at me)

I never liked this movie either. It was really boring. I think it was also supposed to be funny and I didn't find it the least bit funny.

These are just my favorites from this year that I can think of because I have horrible memory. I mostly watch animated things because I am a still a child. Don't judge me.

Favorites, in no order:
  • The Giver (favorite movie ever, but maybe because it's also my favorite book)
  • Hotel Transylvania 1 & 2
  • Home
  • Minions
  • Paddington
Least favorite:
  • Zootopia (Interesting concept, horrible movie)
  • National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (poor cat)

“There is nothing beautiful about the wreckage of a human being.
There is nothing pretty about damage, about pain, about heartache.
What is beautiful is their strength, their resilience, their fortitude
as they display an ocean of courage when they pick through the
wreckage of their life to build something beautiful brand new,
against every odd that is stacked against them.” — Nikita Gill

Resilient
1. (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.
2. (of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

We all possess resilience, we just need to realize it.

Re: Top five movies - December 27th 2016, 05:57 PM

Harry potter movies that i like already add up to 7 so I'm guessing I got disqualified because there's a lot more I like. I am bad at choosing top favorites though.
The Pan's Labyrinth was pretty genius to me although I'm not into the violent parts.
Short Term 12 was good
Toy story 1, 2, 3
Shawshank redemption was amazing
Not sure what else. Stranger than fiction was cool. I usually like parts of a movie but not the whole thing. Sometimes the movie is in general mediocre but has some genius moments
Right now (subject to change) the films I really disliked entirely are:
Inception
Twilight
Dumb dumber
Harry potter 6 (dislike both movie and book)
Madagascar
Ice age: the meltdown
The Trojan women (was a cool concept but very boring and confusing)
I pretty much avoid the ones I know I won't like. And usually wouldnt even manage to finish the whole thing anyway

Re: Top five movies - January 3rd 2017, 04:50 AM

Very good question! I'm going to consider a second list about Disney movies (Likes only, as I don't think there's a Disney movie I dislike..

Like
1. Burlesque.
2. Pitch Perfect 1 & 2
3. Kung Fu Panda 1-3
4. Save the Last Dance
5. Honey
6. Step up 1-5
7. Secret Life of Pets!

Before you ask, my favourite types of movies are ones that involve singing and dancing

Dislike:
1. Lord of the rings (They are too long, I can't sit through long movies).
2. Alien
3. Men in Black
4. Deadpool
5. Matrix

Disney:

Likes
1. Toy Story (1-3)
2. Pocahontas
3. Tinkerbell movies.
4. Zootopia
5. Frozen.
6. Anything Winnie the Pooh.
7. Finding Nemo/Dory
8. Big Hero 6.

Okay, fine I'll stop before I write every single Disney movie in this list

My top favorites in no particular order -

- Sound Of Music.
- Pitch Perfect 1 & 2.
- Finding Nemo/ Dory
- The sisterhood of the traveling pants 1 & 2 (I absolutely love the books but the movies make me really happy every time I watch them)
- Kung Fu Panda

Movies I don't like, those that I can think of right now.
- Twilight
- Hick (Watched it for Blake Lively. When the movie ended, I just sat there like )
- How to be single (Maybe I was expecting too much for this movie. It just didn't do any justice, I guess)

Re: Top five movies - January 3rd 2017, 07:31 PM

Well, I am very picky and rarely watch movies... except I have in the past few months because my niece... so pretty much everything I watched in 2016 were kiddie movies. I did see a part of Stepmom on Christmas Eve.

Favorite movies of all time (mind you, this might be fifteen years outdated These were my favorites when I was a teenager and I haven't seen them in years!)
1. Now & Then
2. Stepmom
3. How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days
4. Save the Last Dance
5. The Parent Trap

Yes, they all came out before 2002.

More recent movies I've liked
1. Harry Potter 2, 6, 8, 7, 1, 3. In that order.
2. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2.
Those two are pretty much the only ones I don't mind watching over and over.

Movies I hate
1. Bridesmaids. And it sure as hell earns the #1 hated spot. The first time I saw it was a few weeks before my sister's wedding back in 2013 and it picked at my insecurities. But I've seen it twice since and I realize it wasn't me being insecure, it was just plain stupid and pointless!
∞ – any movie involving action, violence, and gore.
∞ – any movie involving excessive use of sex, drugs, or both.
∞ – suspense, thriller, horror films.

I used the infinity (∞) sign to indicate that there are no exceptions!

Favorite movies (in no particular order):
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. Her
3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
4. RENT
5. Donnie Darko
6. 10 Things I Hate About You
7. Midnight in Paris
8. Begin Again
9. Almost Famous
10. Harry Potter - all of them

I can't think of any movies that I really hate right now because it doesn't usually take me long to decide if I'm into a movie or not..so I never get far enough into the ones I'm not feeling to form an opinion. So, I just made my favorites list twice as long because I couldn't decide.

Favorite:
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Zoolander
The Karate Kid (Original Ralph Macchio one, not the crap one with Will Smith's kid in it)
Fight Club
The Fundamentals of Caring (On Netflix! Go watch this if you haven't)

Least:
The Ring (Japanese version was good, American one NO)
Shutter (Thai version is my favorite horror film, American horror films are just bad)
The Human Centipede (LMAO but this is listed as a cult classic)
If I Stay (Worst teen movie ever; previews made it look good but it was crap)
The Goonies (My freshman year roommate watched this literally every night)

I don't watch many movies so it took me a while to come up with a list, but I think I've got it now. These are my current favourites/least favourites, so if you ask this again in a couple of months it will likely have changed.

Favourites
The Pirate Movie
Sweeney Todd
Corpse Bride
Mean Girls
After The Dark

Least Favourites
Wolves
The Karate Kid
Divergent
