comfort films and tv shows - February 25th 2017, 03:01 AM

When you're feeling down and need something familiar and comforting what shows/movies do you watch and could always re-watch and never get tired of it? I guess this can be similar to your list of favorites, but the difference is that you can love a movie but not feel like re-watching it. :P For example I really liked The Hunger Game movies but it is not a series I would watch when I am feeling depressed or anxious. It kinda gave me nightmares with all the violence and stuff (lol but somehow harry potter didnt haha!)

Mine is,

The first movie in Chronicles of Narnia

Harry Potter movies 1,2, 3, 4, maybe 7pt1 and 7pt2 (definitely cant do 5th and 6th because those are too scary)

Stranger than Fiction

The Bug's Life

Toy story 1, 2,3 (but mostly 2 and 3)

Maybe the disney Tarzan. I am not sure if I'd watch the whole thing again but I'd listen to the soundtrack.

The Red Balloon (silent film but still good)

Can't think of anything else at the moment for movies

But for TV shows, it would be a lot of the PBS kids stuff growing up like Arthur, CyberChase, DragonTales, and probably theme songs like Clifford Puppy Days "Love makes little things grow" is one that I find myself returning to even though I wouldnt watch the entire episode.
Trying to think of more but I'm drawing a blank.
Would love to hear from you all what your personal go-to movies and tv shows are.

I USED to watch Lion King 1 1/2 like 5 times in a row. Lol. I havent watched it in years so I'm not gonna put it on the list.

That was probably a giveaway...

Also any singing and/or dancing movies

Disney Movies
And, I am gonna be the odd one here, I like to watch sad movies when I need comfort. A couple months ago I was watching Jakob the Liar, Schindler's list etc. Idk why but watching sad movies gives me an odd sense of comfort.

Big Bang Theory
Boy Meets World
Girl Meets World
George Lopez

I like to stick with TV rather than movies if I'm already feeling "off", shorter episodes mean less content to deal with.

Like Katie said, I like watching TV because there's less content to deal with. I watch:

Gilmore Girls (season 1-4)
Friends (season 5-10)

Those are pretty much the two least stressful shows I know of and I could watch repeatedly without tiring of the plot or characters.

I usually watch Pride and Prejudice and I've seen it so many times now that I can basically quote the whole thing. My other go-to movies are Narnia and Harry Potter.

Film wise- and like everyone here- I'd say most Disney movies, Big Hero 6 specifically. And also Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

However, I'm more of a person to rely on TV shows for comfort although it's like what? Two? And they are Red Dwarf and Brooklyn Nine Nine.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

I'm an odd ball, tbh. I watch movies about mental health issues, however, there are others that are completely unrelated that I watch as well.

I watch:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
A Beautiful Mind
Harry Potter
Big Hero 6
Girl, Interrupted
Shutter Island
Sucker Punch
