Girl, Interrupted - January 2nd 2010, 03:50 PM

Sooooooo;

I've been contemplating whether or not to bother buying Girl, Interrupted.
I hear a lot about it and a few people have said it's good.

So I guess I was wondering what your thoughts on this book/film are before I bother to buy it

Thankyou!

if you're talking about the film then i rented it on itunes for like £2.49 or however much it costs and i thought it was really good.. really sad though. angelina jolie is such a beautiful actress. :]

and i haven't read the book - so can't comment on that.

I've seen it... quality movie. Not great if you are triggered by some things... There are some really rough scenes. GREAT movie though.

I loved both the book and film! The film is one of my favourites, and like Amy said, it's very triggering at parts.

I'd definately reccommend it though!

Awesome.
I might rent the film from Blockbusters or something and pick the book up from the library then before I buy them.

Thanks for the input.

Re: Girl, Interrupted - January 2nd 2010, 04:40 PM

Yes yes yes! Girl, interrupted is definitely my favourite english-language film. I have both the book and the film and they are both good but I did prefer the film - they're really quite different to each other. The book is a lot less graphic and more about the mind and thoughts rather than actually telling a story like the film does.
Either way, I'd recommend them both.

Really good film, but fairly triggering. But if you liked the book, then yeah, go ahead.

Read the book for pysch, it was really hard for me to read and opened up a lot of philosophical discourse on mental health for me. Haven't seen the movie, but I think the book is really powerful.

I love the film so much.
There isn't a lot of explanation of BPD but some of the narration has always struck me so hard. I ended up being diagnosed with bpd. I just love the film.

I've seen the movie numerous times and I liked it, don't love it but I really liked it
The book, I'm sure it's just as good as the movie but really if you;re considering
buying the book, then read it first then watch the movie. I def. recommended it to others who are interested in it.

The book and movie are very different from each otherm but both are definately worth buying, or at least renting.

I really enjoyed the book. I watch it when I'm upset (don't ask why). It was well done, but like whats been mentioned above, its quite triggering especially in suicide and self harm areas.

I never read the book (maybe I should) but it's one of my fav films I agree with the others, it's pretty triggering.

I love the move, but like others have said, I have personally been triggered by it, but it also has a good story line and I would also recommend it.

I LOVE it. I own it on DVD and it's definitely one of my all-time favourites, ever since I watched it on television. A friend of mine recommended it.

I thought the movie was pretty interesting and well done. I never really got into the book though. I'd recommend renting it first just incase you don't like it and you could save some money. :]

Its a brilliant, brilliant movie. I'm in love with Angelina Jolie and she was amazing in that movie, my favourite part was when they were in the ice cream parlour?
But like everyone has said, be sososo careful because its extremely triggering.

I went to try to get the book from my local library the other day but they don't have a copy of it in the county and my local bookstores don't have it either.
I'll keep trying to get hold of it though.

Amazing movie. I'd definitely see it if I were you. It's true, it can trigger a lot of people, so just be forewarned. (:

This is such a wonderful book/film. I highly reccomend it. However, be careful; it's very triggering and a sad story. Take care when watching/reading it.
