I'm British and I enjoy the British version (both generations!), and I don't have much hope for this, but I'll still check it out. I'll try be open minded but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed considering they've taken Shameless as well, and are in talks to take Misfits. Eh, I am curious to see how it turns out.

I own the first 2 seasons of the British version. So I will definitely check out the American one, however I don't think its on here tonight.
And I will take you in my arms, and hold you right where you belong. Til the day my life is through, this I promise you.121109 |

It's like the same everything apparently. Thats why so many people in America who like the British version are taking so much shit on it. But I haven't seen the UK version, so I'll be watching it for sure.

I don't care its the same. Of course it'll be a bit of let down because 1. It's *American* and 2. it's on MTV. But I'm totally giving it a shot because I like the British version and we'll be able to relate more to the American one.

I must say that it was a painful struggle just to keep watching after the first 30 minutes. I don't really like this show it's weird.

I tried my hardest not to compare it to the British version but found it too hard as it had the pretty much the same script. Maybe it'll be like The Office US though, the first few episodes were the same as the UK version but it turned it into its own show later on.

Open Letter to America:
Dear America, Please stop stealing good British shows. Skins, Being Human, The Inbetweeners...... What's next? Those shows are in ENGLISH. You are more than welcome to watch them and just pretend they have American accents. Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of good American shows. I love Lost, Boston Legal, Supernatural, Weeds and the rest. I wouldn't expect the UK to produce a Dexter, so please stop trying to produce a Misfits. Sincerely, the rest of the world. To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget

I did say this is not a debate and to bash our country. I made the thread so those Americans could discuss it. There are others like myself who have NEVER watched the British show Skins. :/
There are also shows that the British have made, based off OUR shows lol |

O.o they've ruined it, they've actually ruined it...
The actors don't fit the character at all O.o It's like they've tried to get pretty people to play everyone, and that's not what it's about D= And where's the nudity? Re: Skins (Americans) -

It is a crappy Americanized version of the British version.
I really thought it was in England, until I saw the "collegiate" sign, then thought it was in Canada until Blair Waldorf said her parents hopped over to the Vineyard for the weekend. (Yes, she used "hopped over" instead of "have gone", what American says that?) I agree with the cast members not connecting with the characters they're supposed to be, very few of them really fit. The Asian girl, for example, was good but the guy paying Tony was bad. He looked like that geek from Gossip Girl, Dan whatshisface, but he was really Chuck. Just, like, yeah. I can totally see it being on the CW. But I still liked it. :/ Un dia sin ti es como un año sin ver llover

I haven't seen it yet so I'm not going to comment on it till I do but I can't see it being good, mainly because I've seen the UK version so I'll constantly be comparing the two.

I haven't seen the British version, but I still really didn't care for Skins(US).
Maybe because I'm no longer much of a partier so therefore can no longer relate, or the actors were so poorly picked and the script poorly written/executed... whatever it was, I'll still probably give it a couple more chances to grow on me. When reality is a prison, your mind can set you free. |

I want to watch this. But now I wanna see the UK version because of all the racy content
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

I watched too...it was "weird," definitely. But it's a first episode. Aren't those expected to be mediocre at best? There's no depth to the characters yet and the background hasn't really been explained yet. Maybe I'll like it. I'm giving it a try.
