Question Tech help: Music composer - May 12th 2011, 10:37 PM

My computer runs Open Seuss, and the usual Mario Paint download won't work. I need to electronically compose music, and mario paint is the only thing I know that does what I need.

Are there other programs that I can use that will work?

Re: Tech help: Music composer - May 12th 2011, 11:33 PM

There are loads of programmes available. The most widely used software for composition I think is Sibelius. It's had quite a few versions released, the last of which probably aren't cheap (in the region of $500 even, I'm not sure), but the older ones shouldn't be hard to find and should be cheaper. I've used it before myself... and it really is good. Older versions should be available legally, for not too high a price.

There is other software I use... which is a lot harder and I'm still learning (you're always learning with it), called FL studio. Similar alternatives exist, such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton etc... there are shedloads. Just google "music software".

FL studio is geared more towards studio type production. You can record sounds, input them into the software, edit them, pitch them, I can't summarise it really. It's almost endless. It's not really suitable though for producing music scores if that's what you want.

If you've got some spare time, read this:

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
