Save Us ~ Cartel - May 30th 2011, 02:37 PM

Hey, all. I absolutely love and adore this song so very very much. It's Save Us by Cartel. It is a beautiful piece of music. It is very well written both musically and lyrically. I've always loved this song ever since I first heard it and I heard it this morning after a long time of not listening to it and I haven't stopped listening to it. Look it up on youtube and listen to it because ot really is beautiful and every time I hear it I feel like belting it out at the top of my lungs. Either way, there are different opinions on the lyrics. Some say it's a religious song, a political song, and a song about a girl. And I know, music is music and it doesn't matter how it is interpreted, as long as they enjoy it and it speaks to them, but it's interesting to see what other people think about this. So just comment about what you think the lyrics are about. Here are the lyrics:

Simple words we never knew,
The power behind what they put us through,
Now it's all begun,
What it takes to make it real.
We're standing on the edge of this,
When our soul is gone what will we miss?
We lost what it takes to really, really feel.

And better days behind us now,
We all need someone to tell us how
To save the state of where we are,
It keeps demanding more and more and more.
But who will save us?
This can't go on, without the meaning in the rhyming.
Can you save, and can you save us?
Well I can't go on, out of rhythm with our time.

We hold these truths self evident,
The lies we used to represent
Who we are, because it was never meant to be.
And all the songs we used to sing, they used to tell us everything.
Now we're left with, all we're left is memories.

But the better days behind us now.
We all need someone to tell us how
To save the state of where we are,
It keeps demanding more and more and more.
But who will save us?
This can't go on, without the meaning in the rhyming.
Can you save, and can you save us?
Well I can't go on, out of rhythm with our time.

Say the words, give it all the time you need.
Let it out, oh, just say anything.
Say the words and make them count,
Say the words without a doubt.
Give us truth and nothing more,
Leave us wanting more and more.

But who will save us?
This can't go on, without the meaning in the rhyming.
Can you save, can you save us?
Well I can't go on, out of rhythm with our time.
Can you save, can you save us?
I can't go on, without the meaning in the rhyming.
Can you say, you say, you'll save us?
And I can't go on, we're out of rhythm with our time.

I think it's about being lost in the world and asking someone for help. Seeing all the lies and looking for someone to save you from it all. I can easily see how it could be seen as a religious song, but I don't see that someone as a divine being. I see it as just being a friend, a smile, or a love. <3

So what do you think this song is about?

Risk something, take back what's yours.
Say something that you know they might attack you for.
Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before.
Like it's stupid standing for, what I'm standing for.

When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die.

Your voice is your own, I can't protect it.

You'll have to sing.
A verse no one has ever, known.
Don't be afraid.
Cause no one ever sings, alone.
Love all.
