Mercury Prize -
July 20th 2011, 12:10 AM
I'm not sure anyone still cares about this (I was particularly at the XX winning last year considering how fucking boring they are), but does anyone have any opinion on who should win this year's Mercury Prize?
The nominees are: Adele - 21 Anna Calvi - Anna Calvi Elbow - Build a Rocket Boys! Everything Everything - Man Alive Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam Gwilyn Simcock - Good Days at Schloss Elmau James Blake - James Blake Katy B - On a Mission King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine Metronomy - The English Riviera PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Tinie Tempah - Disc-Overy |

Never heard of almost any one of those, and the ones I have I don't like what I've heard
Yes, it's that simple. Life for you has been less than kind So take a number, stand in line We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt But how we survive is what makes us who we are. I want either PJ Harvey or Elbow to win but they've both won before so it probably won't happen. Katy B's album is good too.

They all suck.
Give it to My Arcadia. Such a good band. I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |

Good point. Damnit.
Really don't think any of those bands are good at all though. I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |

I wouldn't say that. Elbow have been consistently fantastic for a while now, and PJ Harvey has her own unique little quirkiness which I adore. Katy B actually managed to make a good electronic album that has dubstep in it, which I didn't think was possible.
Adele has some set of pipes on her. I don't think she'll win this, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did considering she is currently dominating the world. Tinie Tempah's album isn't too bad either, but I don't think he'll win either. Though, I'm still pissed that Radiohead weren't nominated. The Guardian are running a poll about why heavy metal is never included. Over 80% of people think it's prejudice. |

We really, really do need metal though. I'm going to find that poll. I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |
