Songs which remind you of past experiences - July 24th 2011, 05:26 PM

Are there any songs which remind you of past experiences? Like a song you heard at a wedding, funeral or even listened to a lot at a certain time of your life?

Alice Cooper - Poison gives me the strongest flashback of Summer 2006. Me and my best friend at the time always used to listen to it. I actually find it a little hard to listen to as I miss those days a lot.

Re: Songs which remind you of past experiences - July 24th 2011, 05:59 PM

"Party Rock Anthem" reminds me of the choir slideshow I made... almost any song that choir EVER did reminds me of choir ("Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", "All Shook Up", "Leave It", "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", etc.. not to mention tons of Christmas songs).

Lots of songs remind me of dances I've done on dance team in Middle school, in the dance show in High School, or from my studio. xD

Coldplay songs remind me of my depression stage because they were all I ever listened to and "Cupid Shuffle" reminds me of a firework stand I had to help run. We stood on the sidewalk and did that dance over and over again to encourage people to come to our stand. xD I have lots of songs that remind me of lots of different things. One of the reasons I like most of the songs on my iPod is not because of the song itself but because of the memories I have with them. (:

Anberlin- The Feel Good Drag.
I listened to this a lot and the lyrics remind me of when I had to choose between one of my best guy friends (now an ex-friend) and my boyfriend (now an ex-boyfriend). Ended up losing both

Beauty from Pain - Superchic

My best friend told me to listen to this song when I was really depressed and self-injuring. The song was something I could really relate to and helped me a lot.

Alice Cooper - Poison is a flashback song for me too when I was with my ex it was "our song" along with Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer. SO depending on my mood those songs will make me think about the good times we had and laugh or make me sad that we don't talk much anymore.

Frank Sinatra - My Way was played at my Grandad Funeral last October.

Gerry and the Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone was played at my Uncle's funeral in April.

These are mostly sad ones, if I can think of songs that link to happy memories I will edit this

Edit: Songs by Robson and Jerome and the Spice Girls always make me happy as they link back to my childhood and when things where pretty simple and happy

Re: First Memory That Pops Up When You Hear This Song? - July 30th 2011, 03:52 PM

Oooh I like this. The song 'That's what friends are for' makes me emotional as it was played in our final assembly of year 11 for a slide show of pictures over the 5 years I was there. Kinda' brings a tear to my eye, even though I hated high school!

Also, 'Moving on up' as it was my leavers assembly song in year 6. I can remember the dance and everything! I loved primary school.

Would you let me see beneath your beautiful
Would you let me see beneath your perfect
Take it off now girl, take it off now girl
I wanna see inside.

The song 'The worlds greatest' makes me emotional as it was always played to us as we went through high school and was played at our leavers assembly.

Also Lola by Madness brings back my 12th birthday when we spent it in hospital after my mom fell down the stairs and damaged her back. So i don't really like listening to that song now.

We live by superchick brings back the momory of a sleep over at a friends house. We sat around the table and talked with her brother. Her brother died a few months later, this song always brings back memories of him.

'Come What May' reminds me of my most recent ex-boyfriend. It was our unofficial song, and I sung it to him on occasion. It's one of the few happy memories I got to keep of him.

"Hips don't lie" Every time I hear that song, I remember a time when a group of my friends and I changed the lyrics to it for a skit we did.

"The Circle Game" By Joni Mitchell. That song brings back memories of when I was taking care of a baby lamb, and it wouldn't let you leave it alone unless you played that song.

"F*** you" Last fall a group of friends and I all sang that song together, flipping each other off. Then months later, same group of friends all sang it together again.

"Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera bring back memories of when I used to sing that song all the time with a friend.

And there are more songs, those are just the ones I can think of off hand.

Also to add to mine S Club - Say Goodbye was sung by my whole year at our leavers assembly and half of us didn't make it to the end because we were crying so much.

'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol reminds me of a Halloween party where my friend actually went and lay down on the road just to sing the song.

Nothing in the world is
the way it ought to be.
It's harsh, and cruel.

But that's why there's us - champions.
Doesn't matter where we come from,
what we've done or suffered,
or even if we make a difference.

We live as though the
world is as it should be,
to show it what it can be.

For some reason, when Maroon 5's, "This Love" plays, something bad always happens to me. I realize whenever I stub my toe or break my camera, that song is always playing in the background.
