It just so happens that I absolutely abhor the type of music every other kid my age adores. That is the rap/pop/R&B/hip-hop/trash that is all I've heard for the past 5 months. HATE HATE HATE it. It's not even real music in my eyes. I'm not dissing anyone else's preferences, I really wouldn't care but it's ALL I HEAR. The radio literally has two types of music: that and country, which I also don't like. There is only one radio channel I can listen to and that's NPR. I'm forced to listen to it all the time, it's all they play at dances, on TV, in stores, everywhere!
I guess it's a little bit my own fault, I'm really picky with all music. I can't seem to find a whole genre I like, just a few certain artists. But they don't have to play it ALL THE TIME! |

I understand your frustration... but that's the only way that the TV channels & radio stations make their money.
They play popular stuff. I guess I'm lucky to live in the UK because Radio 1 has a show that Zane Lowe presents, which is basically heavier music. And channels like Kerrang! Just stick to your iPod dear Music changes with time .

We're also lucky in the UK to not really have country music dominating the radio
And I must admit, as much as the radio frustrates me, Zane Lowe is a bit of a legend.Stuff like pop music is pretty easy on the ears. It's ideal music for shoppers to hear when they're picking out clothes or whatever. And it isn't too extreme in any direction, so if it's on the radio, people may complain about the song but not many would complain about the genre. Put some death metal on in a shop or on the radio during the day though and I can imagine some people would be a bit upset. |
