Shawn Lane -
December 13th 2011, 12:00 PM
When I was in school and in my guitar class I mentioned Shawn Lane to my guitar teacher. He told me he hasn't even heard of him.
How in the world is someone, probably one of the best and most influential guitarists for most of the popular guitarists nowadays, so unheard of? Shawn lane has influenced guitarists like Rusty Cooley, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, Andy Timmons, and many others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbPpeThU5CA&t=5m26s This is a vid of him actually playing with a lot of the guitarists who are pretty big nowadays (and back then as well). The people who participated in the whole video are: Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, Reb Beach, Alex Skolnick, Joe Satriani, Gerald Veasley, Steve Vai and Shawn Lane. ( skipped to the part with Shawn Lane for clarification of who it is. and lol @ Paul for how he plays after Shawn ;P) Here's an example of his music (which is fairly versatile, he had an interesting way of approaching music as a whole) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbPTeFta4lw I'd also suggest looking at the top comment of this song, even if you don't listen to it. I feel that way 100%. |
