Personally? I love sailor moon! =] Everyone calls me sad but I grew up with it and used to always pretend I was Sailor Mars. I love the show but I haven't seen any with the new scouts, like Sailor Pluto and Sailor Neptune.
Luna for the win!

*hums the intro theme tune*..ahh, nostalgia.

Yup, one of my guilty pleasures, though definitely the original Japanese subbed version, since I've heard horror stories of how bad they made the english dubs. Apparantly on average, they cut out about ten minutes of each episode

I didn't know that I'll have to get my hands on the japanese dubbed episodes then.

I'm pretty sure you can get the DVDs imported fairly easily, though some specialist anime/manga stores near you if you're lucky enough to have them might already have them in(and they'll probably be cheaper too).

I remember this program. However, I neither hated nor loved this show.

Actually, at least in the US, the box sets have become somewhat difficult to come by, and if you do find them, they tend to be extremely expensive.

Anyways, I grew attached to the show through the dub when it was initially airing here on Cartoon Network/Toonami. The dub isn't as bad as some anime dubs have been, but it certainly loses a lot of impact in the translation. Try watching the scene with Usagi/Serena Vs. Queen Beryl at the end of Sailor Moon (the first season) in both dubbed and original Japanese versions and you'll see what I mean. Still a great scene either way, but dialogue differences are key.

I'll always give this show credit for being a shojo (girl) anime, yet appealing to a broader range of viewers. I always got teased when I was younger for watching it by my friends, but I thought it was just a great series with fun characters and an interesting concept.

I like stuff like that, but I hate it when you get the girls wearing tails and ears and their whole lives are dedicated to Yan-Yan and Japanese food/candy, drawing anime and pretending that Inyuyasha is their lost love.

I used to watch this all the time when I was little. I even got some of the action figures as a present (I don't know what happened to them). I might watch some of the episodes online now that I'm on break. That sounds like a great way to pass the time.

It's a Japanese cartoon series, known commonly as anime, about a girl named Usagi (Serena in the English dub) who meets a talking cat named Luna, who informs her that she's a heroine named Sailor Moon, who must lead a group of other female heroines known as the Sailor Senshi (Sailor Scouts in the dub) against a villain known as Queen Beryl. Each Sailor takes the name of a planet, and a loosely related element (for example, Sailor Mercury has water and ice based attacks, while Sailor Mars uses fire based attacks). Initially there are only five (Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus), but in later seasons more are added. Also, plots and villains change from season to season, but the general thread is that each season tends to delve a little deeper into the lives, past, present, and future, of the Sailors.

My sister is like that, and it does get quite annoying.

Anyways, I love Sailor Moon, actually Chibi Moon as my Avatar shows.I used to run around with my sister and older friends pretending we were Sailor Stars. The japanese version is so much better. Youtube has most of the episodes, it's where I watch it.

Oh wow... such an old show. I loved it so much when I was little! I decided to relive my childhood and I literally re-watched every episode and movie from that series and even though there are over 200 episodes, I have to say that they always mean just one thing and nothing else. Well three things: love, dreams, and honesty. I mean it is great for little kids watching it, but after I was done, I felt like they were reruns, but they were definitely amazing. ;D

It is so weird listening to the American version and the Japanese version. o: Ha! Very different.

That's so expensive. When did this series stop being aired, y'all? I'd love to see it revived. I've only see the English version, I'm interested to look up the Japanese version.

It has to have been at least a decade by now.

Technically, they did revive it a few years ago, but as a live-action series known as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I've seen a few episodes of it and it's actually fairly good if you can look past the obvious issues that come from making it live-action (costumes and wigs [Yes, wigs], jumping back and forth between showing Luna and Artemis as CGI characters and as just stuffed animals, etc). From what I've heard it does a better job at following the story in the source manga/comics better than the anime did. Plus, I've heard they did a really good job at establishing and building up the characters.

But yes, a revival would be nice, with some modern animation, new voice actors, and such.

Wow, that was a long time ago. I watched a couple of episodes online today. I tried the Japanese version, but I just couldn't get into it. I also don't like having to read along, so I found the English dub and went along from there. Fond childhood memories.

Oh my, it sounds like the acting would be poor in there with wigs and a stuffed version of Luna. However, I'd like to see it just to see what it looks like. EDIT: I just looked it up on YouTube and Sailor Moon looks like a Barbie. There was no English to it, so that does me no good. According to the comments, they even made Sailor Moon into musicals. It must have been very popular back in the day.

Can someone explain all of the different series to me? I keep finding Pretty Sailor Moon, Super Sailor Moon, and some other things. What is the order and difference between them?

The anime seasons are named as such:

Season 1=Sailor Moon
Season 2=Sailor Moon R
Season 3=Sailor Moon S
Season 4=Sailor Moon SuperS
Season 5=Sailor Stars (Never released outside Japan for various reasons)

Of course, the live action goes by the name of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

As for the musicals, here's a list:

Not really sure about anything you found, though.
